It seems that “Inside 2” has possibly lost its record for the highest-grossing animated film of all time after only holding it for nine months. The Chinese film “Ne Zha 2” reportedly beat the Disney Pixar film after only three weeks.
What is “Ne Zha 2” about?
Here is the film’s synopsis.
“After the heavenly lightning, although Ne Zha and Ao Bing survived by becoming Spirits, they would soon dissipate completely. Taiyi plans to rebuild Ne Zha and Ao Bing’s mortal bodies with the Seven-colored Precious Lotus. However, during the process of reconstruction, numerous obstacles arise. What will become of Ne Zha and Ao Bing?”
People seem to like the film.

The film has been released in the United States, and Rotten Tomatoes has an audience score of 99% with over 1,000 reviews. There is not critical score for the film yet.
The win is mostly due to their domestic box office.
“Ne Zha 2” received most of its box office total from China, with only a small percentage coming from outside countries. This is a start contact from Disney, which relies heavily on the international box office and has been known to chase after the Chinese box office.
The total for the film comes from the ticketing service Maoyan, and some argue that the numbers are overinflated. However, it is being reported as the new top animated film and the eighth-highest box office take total. Maoyan is predicting the film will do over $2 billion in China alone.
“Inside Out 2” made just under $1.7 billion USD and it appears that “Ne Zha 2” has surpassed that or will within the next day or two.
Whether the film performs globally is not likely relevant. If the numbers are believed, then it will beat “Inside Out 2,” which is mostly from their own box office. If it climbs up to or past the estimated $2 billion box office, it will put the film to at least the 7th highest-grossing spot, which is currently held by “Spider-Man: No Way Home” at $1.953 billion. The 6th spot is currently held by “Avengers: Infinity War” at $2.052 billion.
We will have to wait and see how far this film goes.
