Disney must really be running out of ideas, or trying to appeal to the kids that aged out of Disney Jr. with a new teenage musical series called “Vampirina: Teenage Vampire”.

Disney has released a teaser trailer and poster for the first two episodes that will premiere on the Disney Channel on Friday, September 12 at 8 PM and 8:30 PM. Then new episodes will air weekly.

The show will have 16 episodes that will be all be dropped on Disney+ and Disney Channel on Demand on October 15.

This seems like Disney is trying to boost their linear TV, as declines and changes in audience viewing habits have sent linear TV spiraling over the last few years.

As far as the teaser goes, it does seem very old school Disney Channel, which isn’t a bad thing,

Here is the write-up for this older “Vampirina: Teenage Vampire” show,

“Vampirina: Teenage Vampire” tells the story of a tween vampire girl who leaves the safety of Transylvania to attend a performing arts boarding school. Living amongst humans for the first time, she pursues her passion for music while keeping her vampire identity a secret, something that’s made more challenging when her overprotective father charges an overzealous ghost to live with her at the school. Vampirina, or “Vee,” is an already beloved character from the popular book saga and the record-breaking Disney Jr. series. “Vampirina: Teenage Vampire” is the first live-action portrayal.”

Disney boasts that the show comes from Dan Cross and David Hoge (“Julie and the Phantoms”) with Tim Federle (creator of “High School Musical: The Musical” The Series) as an executive producer.

It sounds like they are trying to cash in on the “Wednesday” craze.

  • Boarding School
  • Edgy lead character
  • Girly Roommate

The cast will feature Kenzi Richardson as Vampirina “Vee” along with Jiwon Lee as her roommate Sophie.

Other actors include,

  • Mykal-Michelle Harris as Ruby
  • Jenna Davis as Megan (which is ironic as she is from“M3GAN,” “M3EGAN 2.0)
  • Ariel Martin as popstar Millie Eyelash (I can’t with this.)
  • Janice LeAnn Brown as Billie in a crossover with the “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place” show.
  • Shaun Dixon as Elijah
  • Milo Maharlika as Demi, the 600-year-old ghost
  • Faith Hedley as legacy student Britney
  • Kate Reinders and Jeff Meacham as Vee’s parents.
  • Kim Colesas Dean Merriweather of Wilson Hall Academy of the Arts.

This is all a choice, but given how well “Wednesday” is doing it might work out for them.

Gone is the cute Vapirina the Ba
