Disney and Fortnite Announce New Star Wars Islands 10 Minute “The Mandalorian and Grogu” Watch Party

In case you didn’t know, Disney and Fortnite are partners, and to celebrate Star Wars Day and the release of “The Mandalorian and Grogu,” they have announced new islands coming to the platform starting on May 1, 2026.

They also announced a watch party that will feature 10 minutes of the upcoming “Star Wars” film, “The Mandalorian and Grogu,” on May 19th, three days ahead of the official release on May 22, 2026.

Here’s what’s coming out on May 1, 2026,

According to Variety, development tools will now allow developers to create their own islands in Fortnite using past Star Wars pieces from previous Battle Royale Seasons.

“Starting May 1, developers will be able to take characters, templates, tools and gameplay features, locations, vehicles and weapons from past Fortnite Battle Royale Seasons. The update allows developers to mix, match, and build their own “Star Wars” experiences for other players to explore.”

To start, there will be three starter islands using the “Star Wars x UEFN” tools.

Escape Vader by Beyond Creative: a 4-player co-op game where players try to escape Darth Vader

Variety offered this game description: “Described as a “Star Wars” horror game, a group of rebels infiltrate a derelict Star Destroyer and come face to face with Vader himself, and must work together to escape while being relentlessly hunted.”

Galactic Siege by JOGO Studios: Fight in large-scale PvP battles with 10v10 combat that will go across various Star Wars planets.

The description for this says, “The goal is to group up and find capture points. The longer you hold them, the more points you get, and the closer you are to winning.”

Droid Tycoon by FOAD: Build and customize over 40 droids using Star Wars blueprints, manage your workshop and factory, while going on special missions to find rare components.

It was also announced that on May 19, players can join “The Mandalorian and Grogu Watch Party Island” and see 10-minutes of the film early. (Sounds to me like Disney wants to boost ticket sales.)

Finally, on May 26, “Star Wars” fans can visit “The Mandalorian and Grogu Watch Party Island” and  join a Q&A with Jon Favreau about the film.

What do you think?

I’m really loving the ideas behind the Escape Vader horror game and Droid Tycoon.

Which ones are do you want to play?
