5 Reasons We Love T-Rex Café in Disney Springs

Oh, Landry’s Restaurants at Orlando area theme park resorts. We love and we dislike you all at the same time. However, while we embrace the quality of Yak &Yeti in Animal Kingdom, we also find ourselves looking at Rainforest Café and T-Rex Café a bit more critically.

In previous articles, I wrote about reasons to love and reasons to dislike Rainforest Café. A recent menu item review can also be found on our site. However, T-Rex Café fits similar mold to Rainforest Café except as you might easily guess, dinosaurs dominate the theming. Some veteran rope dropping Walt Disney World visitors visit T-Rex Café almost every trip. What are some good reasons that people love T-Rex Café?

Here are five things we love about T-Rex:

  1. Makes Most Kids Happy

This place offers far more distractions with dinosaur themed entertainment than should be allowed. Especially, if you have kids into dinosaurs in any way, the theming here with animatronics, sounds, and aquarium life will allow you to focus on your meal at least for a few minutes. Many kids going to Disney Springs beg to visit T-Rex Café. Which of you when you child asks for a burger from T-Rex Café will give them a stone?

**editor’s note** the noise level and sounds can be overwhelming for some children. Keep this in mind.

  1. This Place is like Tigger

As A.A. Milne wrote: “The wonderful thing about Tiggers, is Tiggers are wonderful things. Their tops are made out of rubber, their bottoms are made out of springs. They’re bouncy, trouncy, flouncy, pouncy, fun, fun, fun, fun, fun. But the most wonderful thing about Tiggers, is I’m the only one. IIIII’m the only one!”

The only T-Rex Café in world resides in Disney Springs. The argument to avoid places like Rainforest Café, Blaze Pizza, and Earl of Sandwich due to those being located elsewhere fails with T-Rex Café…because it is “the only one!” For better or worse, you can only experience T-Rex Café at Walt Disney World.

  1. Landry’s Select Club

T-Rex Cafe happens to be a part of the Landry’s Restaurant operation. If you join Landry’s Select Club, you get priority seating, birthday rewards, and earn more rewards. Priority seating privileges can get you a table sometimes well before people with reservations.

  1. Wide Variety of Food Options

If you find yourself dining here, you will find something you would normally enjoy. They sell bar style appetizers, salads, burgers, pasta, sandwiches, and more. The menu also offers a wide variety of special dietary options. No matter your preference in terms of food, you will find something in that category here.

  1. Shopping

I realize visiting a restaurant for shopping may not seem important. However, kids will persuade parents to let them buy some dinosaur themed items. Under normal circumstances, guests may buy the equivalent dinosaur version of a “Build-A-Bear.” Some families talk about kids saying best part of trip was getting a merchandise item at T-Rex Café.

Now, T-Rex Café possesses reasons to love but shows some obvious flaws. The reason to dislike T-Rex will have to wait for a few weeks. However, if you have kids into dinosaurs and/or picky eaters, this place could be a good option for you.

As always, eat like you mean it!
