Jimmy Kimmel Returns To Air But Disney Stock Still About the Same

When Disney put ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ on a temporary hiatus and some said they were cancelling their Disney+ subscriptions, the media stated that Disney had lost billions. One of the “indicators” of loss was the Disney stock price.

I clearly demonstrated that there was not much of a drop regarding the stock, as it had been below the $113 price the majority of the time over the past year.

Sure, it fluctuated somewhat, but stayed mostly consistent around $113-$114.

If Disney’s losses were the result of Kimmel’s suspension, the stocks should be going up, up, up, right?

The stocks are not showing any significant increase since Disney announced Kimmel’s return. In fact, they are lower than they were two days after Disney announced Kimmel’s suspension.

Kimmel is back on the air, but the stocks are still down.

Shouldn’t they jump up higher if their decline was due to Kimmel being removed and Disney caving to demands?

What could be causing the stock price to stay down?

Investors could be leery of putting their “eggs” into the Disney basket until they know the actual numbers of subscribers lost and how many have returned after Kimmel was reinstated.

A lot of people publicly announced they were cancelling Disney+, but we don’t know how many actually did or how many said they were but never had the service to begin with. Nor do we know how many have actually turned their subscriptions back on when Disney complied with their demands.

Impending Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN price hikes

Another factor to consider is the news that Disney will be raising their streaming prices $2-$7 a month, depending on which services you have. Costs will go up on October 21, 2025.

Many might not be renewing or could have cancelled due to the upcoming annual price increase. This would also keep investor confidence and stock prices down.

Disney’s fiscal year and Q4 will end on September 30, 2025. Investors may be waiting to see the earnings results before putting more money and confidence into Disney.

Whatever the reason, Disney’s stock price did not return once Jimmy Kimmel was put back on the air.
