Disney Launches Nationwide Animation Voice Talent Search

The Walt Disney Company has announced the Disney Branded Television Discovers Voice Talent Search, a nationwide opportunity for finding and developing emerging voice actors.

The program is designed to spotlight animation voice actors by offering selected participants the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in voice performance, character development, and collaborative storytelling.

A Week Inside Disney Television Animation

Ten participants will be chosen to attend a free, weeklong workshop at Disney Television Animation studios in Glendale, California. During this program, they will work directly with Disney’s casting and creative teams to learn about the fundamentals of voice acting as well as developing original animated characters.

The conclusion of the workshop will allow participants to help create an original 11-minute animated short, which will air on Disney platforms.

A Focus on Discovering New Voices

Disney executives say the move is meant to expand the search for talent and invest in the future of animation storytelling.

Senior VP of Casting and Talent for Disney Branded Television said,

“Extraordinary performers are already out there — it’s our responsibility to discover them. By intentionally widening our search, creating direct connections with our casting and creative teams, and investing in meaningful training, we’re ensuring that distinctive new voices will continue to define Disney storytelling for years to come.”

Gino Guzzardo, VP of Multiplatform Content at Disney Branded Television, also made a statement saying

“Our goal is to find the best voices, and shorts are the perfect experimental canvas to help us do that. Over the course of the week, they’ll learn from our seasoned storytellers, get experience in the recording booth, and see their performances evolve as we use improvisation techniques to create characters.

We’ll end the week with proof-of-concept character shorts, the best of which will be featured in a fully produced shorts variety special — a tangible example of what happens when new talent is given the space and support to find their voice.”
