Disney’s new Haunted Mansion blind boxes cost $9.99 each and hide one of six ghost figures, including the Hatbox Ghost, the Hitchhiking Ghosts and Constance Hatchaway.
A ghost might follow you home after all. It’ll just cost you $9.99.
Disney’s new Haunted Mansion blind boxes are now out at Disney Store online, Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort, WDW News Today reported on Oct. 9. Each box hides one of six ghost figures from the ride, and you won’t know which one you got until you open it.
The box itself is purple, covered in the Haunted Mansion’s famous damask wallpaper pattern, with the Hatbox Ghost front and center.
Which Haunted Mansion figures are in the blind boxes?
There are six:
-
The Hatbox Ghost
-
Constance Hatchaway, the bride from the attic
-
The opera singer from the graveyard scene
-
Ezra, the tall, skinny Hitchhiking Ghost
-
Phineas, the Hitchhiking Ghost with the carpetbag
-
Gus, the short, bearded Hitchhiking Ghost with the ball and chain
The figures have green skin and mostly white or black outfits, with dark purple accessories. Each one stands on a purple base outlined in black.
There’s an equal chance of getting each figure, WDW News Today reported.
How much are the Haunted Mansion blind boxes?
$9.99 per box. That’s the price WDW News Today found at both Disney Springs and Disneyland Resort.
Discounts don’t apply, and there are no refunds, exchanges or returns. So if you’re hunting for one specific ghost, you might be buying a few boxes.
Where can you buy the Haunted Mansion blind boxes?
They’re available online at Disney Store, which started selling them on Oct. 9. In the parks, WDW News Today found them at:
-
Mystery Drop Shop in the Marketplace Co-Op at Disney Springs
-
Disney Storyland Boutique in the Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort
Availability can vary from store to store, so stock might come and go.
Who is the Hatbox Ghost?
He’s one of the Haunted Mansion’s most famous residents, and he has a strange history.
The Hatbox Ghost was in Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion when it opened in 1969, but the effect didn’t work well and he was pulled almost right away. For decades, fans only knew him from old photos and stories.
Disney finally brought him back to Disneyland’s mansion in 2015. He joined Magic Kingdom’s Haunted Mansion in 2023, and he’s been a merch favorite ever since.
Who are the Hitchhiking Ghosts?
They’re the three ghosts who show up near the end of the Haunted Mansion and try to “follow you home.” In the ride’s mirror scene, they appear to squeeze into your Doom Buggy with you.
Ezra, Phineas and Gus have been part of the ride since it opened. They’re also some of the most popular Haunted Mansion characters on merch, from pins to popcorn buckets.
Is there other new Haunted Mansion merch right now?
Yes. WDW News Today spotted a Haunted Mansion playset at Memento Mori in Magic Kingdom, showing the outside of the mansion with tiny scenes inside.
Disneyland’s October pin release also includes Haunted Mansion Holiday designs. That’s the Nightmare Before Christmas version of the ride, and it’s running at Disneyland now.
So between blind boxes, pins and playsets, Haunted Mansion fans have a lot to choose from this fall. The ghosts would want it that way.
When did the Haunted Mansion open?
The Haunted Mansion opened at Disneyland on Aug. 9, 1969. Magic Kingdom’s version opened with that park on Oct. 1, 1971.
Tokyo Disneyland has its own Haunted Mansion, too, and Disneyland Paris has a darker spin on the idea called Phantom Manor. All of them have their fans, but the Hatbox Ghost and the Hitchhiking Ghosts are the ones you’ll see on the most merch.
