Daredevil: Born Again is ending with Season 3

Marvel’s Disney+ revival will end after its third season in 2027, and showrunner Dario Scardapane is leaving while the final episodes are still being edited.

Season 3 of Daredevil: Born Again will be its last, The Hollywood Reporter reported Sept. 21. The final season is expected on Disney+ in 2027.

And the man who’s been running the show won’t be there to finish it.

Why is Daredevil: Born Again ending?

Marvel hasn’t given a public reason. But the numbers haven’t been kind.

The show “went 0-for-17 on the Nielsen streaming charts,” according to Cosmic Book News. That means no episode from either season made Nielsen’s weekly streaming Top 10. Season 2 also drew fewer viewers than Season 1, the outlet reported.

That’s a rough showing for a series that fans fought years to get back.

Who is replacing showrunner Dario Scardapane?

Nobody knows yet.

Scardapane’s contract ran out, and Marvel didn’t renew it, per THR. The timing is the strange part. Season 3 has already finished filming and is in post-production, which means editing, visual effects, and music are still being worked on.

Showrunners usually stick around for that stage. TheWrap reported it’s unclear who will finish the season in his place.

Who is in Daredevil: Born Again Season 3?

A lot of familiar faces from the old Netflix shows.

Charlie Cox is back as Matt Murdock, and Vincent D’Onofrio returns as Wilson Fisk. The Playlist reports the final season also brings back:

• Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones

• Mike Colter as Luke Cage

• Finn Jones as Danny Rand, aka Iron Fist

• Élodie Yung as Elektra

That’s most of the old Defenders crew in one place. If this is the ending, Marvel is at least sending it off with the whole gang.

What happened at the end of Season 2?

Season 2 premiered on Disney+ in March 2026. It ended with Matt Murdock behind bars and Fisk running New York as mayor.

Season 3 is set to wrap up that fight between Murdock and Fisk for good.

Didn’t Netflix cancel Daredevil after three seasons too?

Yes, and fans noticed fast.

Netflix’s Daredevil ran for three seasons, from 2015 to 2018, before Netflix canceled it in November 2018. Fans spent years campaigning for a return. Disney+ finally brought Cox and D’Onofrio back with Born Again in March 2025.

Now the revival is also stopping at three seasons. Same number, different streamer.

Is Marvel making fewer Disney+ shows?

It looks that way.

Marvel canceled “Wonder Man” in July even though it had already been renewed, according to The Playlist. The studio also didn’t announce any new live-action series at D23 this summer.

Before this week, Born Again was the last Marvel live-action series known to be in the works, TheWrap reported.

What Marvel shows are still coming to Disney+?

Marvel isn’t shutting the door. THR reports that Marvel Television keeps three to five live-action shows in development at any time.

One of them is a spy thriller with the working title “Zodiac,” which Marvel recently greenlit, per TheWrap. There are no details yet on who’s in it or when it arrives.

When does Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 come out?

Disney+ hasn’t set a date. For now, all Marvel has said is 2027.
