Toy Story 5 Box Office Predictions Indicate Could Break Franchise Records For Opening Weekend

June is going to be a busy month at the box office, but ‘Toy Story 5’ could be a huge winner if early box office predictions come true.

Right now, the film is estimated to open domestically between $150 and $175 million (depending on where you look), which could beat “Toy Story 4” (not adjusted for inflation). This would also push past the “Super Mario Galaxy Movie,” which opened at almost $132 million.

If the film comes in at the upper end, it could come close to the opening of “Incredibles 2,” which earned almost $183 million for its domestic opening weekend. But that total is not adjusted for inflation.

With kids getting out of school for the summer, families may flock to movie theaters.

While ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’ is considered a “family film,” it did have a high body count.  “Masters of the Universe” could bring some families to the table, but “Toy Story 5” will likely win over more families than the 80s toy franchise. Given the current economy, people don’t have the money to take the family to the movies for every release, so they may be choosier about what they see. “Toy Story” films are usually solid bets.

“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” will likely bring in a lot of people as well, and it comes out two weeks after “Toy Story 5”.

“Toy Story 5” is about toys and technology.

The synopsis reads, “Buzz, Woody, Jessie and the rest of the gang’s jobs are challenged when they’re introduced to what kids are obsessed with today….electronics!”

From my understanding, the movie is about finding balance between technology and life.

Tim Allen, Tom Hanks, Joan Cusack, Wallace Shawn, John Ratzenberger, Tom Hale, and many other actors are returning to voice characters in this film.

Here is the most recent ‘Toy Story 5’ trailer

Tickets are on sale now, and the movie officially opens on June 19, 2026.
