Since Winnie the Pooh wandered into the public domain, we’ve seen all sorts of oddities themed after the stuffed bear. However, not everyone is using the character to make a quick buck. Some are creating truly adorable pieces of art with the loveable character.
One such creation is a statue of Pooh sporting some serious ink. Yes, it’s a tattooed Pooh Bear with Tigger, too! As soon as we saw artist Jee Saya’s ‘Tatpooh’ Winnie the Pooh statue, it had sold out. Oh, bother.
The 16″ tall tatted-up Pooh Bear was limited to only 50 pieces. So, it’s not surprising that they went so quickly, even at $1,619 each.
“Tatpooh, 彫物 プーさん, created by JEE Saya and inspired by Japanese Irezumi culture illustrates the rite of passage from childhood to adulthood and the construction of the personality. Pooh held our hand when we set off on our journey, and although she seemed to fade away, Tatpooh proudly shows us how she is still with us now, sharing our love of art and our need for individual expression.”
However, if you’re willing to pay quite a bit more, the even larger version of Tatpooh is still in stock. For $5,719, you can own the one that is 31.9″ tall!
Understandably, paying a large chunk of change for a piece of Pooh is not for everyone. Yet, if you love Saya’s design, there’s a more affordable option. A $22 enamel pin of Tatpooh is available at the Hundred Demons shop.
The statues are made with PLA and feature a ceramic finish. Each Tatpooh comes with a transparent acrylic base. All versions of the figure are made in Madrid, Spain.
