Taco Bell’s $4 Duo’s Usual, a Duolingo tie-in, comes with a Doritos Locos Taco, a Soft Taco, Cinnamon Twists, and a medium drink. It runs through Monday, Oct. 12, in stores and in the app.
Taco Bell has a $4 meal on the menu, and it’s named after a green owl.
The Duo’s Usual gets you a Doritos Locos Taco, a Soft Taco, Cinnamon Twists and a medium fountain drink for $4. It’s named after Duo, the Duolingo mascot, as part of Taco Bell’s National Taco Day team-up with the language app.
The deal started Tuesday, Oct. 6, and runs through Monday, Oct. 12, according to Parade. You can get it at participating U.S. locations, in stores or in the Taco Bell app.
How many calories are inn the Taco Bell Duo’s Usual?
The Nacho Cheese Doritos Locos Taco is 170 calories. The Soft Taco is 180, and the Cinnamon Twists are 170. The medium fountain drink runs anywhere from 0 to 280 calories, depending on what you pour.
That puts the whole box somewhere between 520 and 800 calories. Pick a diet soda and you stay at the low end.
You can also customize the tacos, and you pick the drink.
How long does the $4 Duo’s Usual deal last?
One week, from Oct. 6 through Oct. 12.
Prices and participation vary by store, Taco Bell says, so check the app before you go. Tax is extra.
Does the Duo’s Usual come with the Duolingo hot sauce?
It should. Taco Bell’s new Duo Habanero Sauce comes free, one packet, with any Doritos Locos Tacos purchase in the U.S. And the Duo’s Usual has a Doritos Locos Taco in it.
Taco Bell describes the sauce as bright and tangy, with fruity notes and habanero heat that builds as you eat. Extra packets cost 20 cents each.
The packets are the fun part. Each one has a taco saying in one of nine languages: English, Spanish, French, Hindi, Portuguese, German, Korean, Mandarin, and Japanese.
The sauce is available while supplies last.
What else did Taco Bell and Duolingo do for National Taco Day?
Taco Bell and Duolingo called it Global Taco Day, with events in New York, Toronto, Mumbai, and Shanghai on Oct. 6.
In New York, Duo and friends took over the Taco Bell Midtown Cantina on Sixth Avenue from 3 to 4:30 p.m. ET, serving tacos and running taco-themed language lessons.
Taco Bell gave away 1,000 Taco Bell x Duo plushies across several countries, with a U.S. drop in the app at 2 p.m. PT on Oct. 6. Rewards members could also unlock a free month of Super Duolingo through Oct. 6.
“Taco is a rare word that travels easily across cultures,” said Emmanuel Orssaud, Duolingo’s chief marketing officer.
Taco Bell just took National Taco Day and made it a Taco Week.
