Loewe’s Disney Nightmare Before Christmas collection drops Nov. 12

Tim Burton drew new versions of Jack, Zero and the Harlequin Demon for Loewe’s Nightmare Before Christmas collection, which includes a woven bucket bag with snakes crawling out of it. It launches Nov. 12.

Jack Skellington is going high fashion. Luxury house Loewe announced its Disney Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas collection Wednesday, and it launches Thursday, Nov. 12.

The details are very Halloween Town. One handbag hides a Jack Skellington drawing in its lining. Another has Zero painted on the side. And a woven orange-and-black leather bucket bag has snakes poking out of it, like something Oogie Boogie would carry to brunch.

Tim Burton drew new versions of Jack, Zero and the Harlequin Demon for the line, ScreenRant reported.

Loewe calls it “an encounter between two worlds of craft.” The pitch is that stop-motion animation and Loewe’s leather goods are both made by hand.

Here’s Loewe’s video with Tim Burton:

Is this the “new Nightmare Before Christmas release” from Tim Burton?

Yes. ScreenRant’s headline teased a new Nightmare release from Burton arriving next week. That release is this Loewe collection.

It’s not a new movie, a sequel or a re-release. It’s bags, candles and clothes, with new Burton art on them. Still pretty cool, just less popcorn.

What’s in the Loewe Nightmare Before Christmas collection?

Loewe says the collection covers bags, accessories, ready-to-wear, scented candles and leather goods, Laughing Place reported. Here’s what’s been teased so far:

  • A handbag with Jack Skellington drawn on the inside lining

  • A handbag with Zero painted on the side

  • A woven leather bucket bag in orange and black, with Halloween Town’s snakes coming out of it

  • A crocheted “Wolfman” key chain, per Phantasmag

  • Scented candles, because Halloween Town apparently smells like something

How much is the Loewe Nightmare Before Christmas collection?

Loewe hasn’t shared prices in the coverage we found, and it hasn’t said which stores will carry it. Expect luxury pricing, though. This is a Spanish fashion house, not a theme park gift shop.

For comparison, we’ve covered plenty of cheaper Nightmare drops this year. Sam’s Club sold Nightmare cupcakes at 30 for $16.67. That was a different tax bracket.

What does Tim Burton say in the Loewe video?

The teaser doesn’t show any products. It’s Burton talking about making the 1993 movie, which Henry Selick directed and Burton produced and dreamed up.

Burton said Disney’s first note was that “the main character has to have eyes.” He pushed back. Jack’s simple skull face was the point, and Burton said he enjoyed “trying to emit emotion without eyes.”

He also talked about the stop-motion puppets. “Seeing things made by hand is such a beautiful thing,” Burton said, Laughing Place reported.

ScreenRant said a companion short shows Burton sketching and painting Halloween Town residents and talking about how the movie started.

Has Loewe done collaborations like this before?

Yes, and with animation. Loewe has released three Studio Ghibli capsules, inspired by My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away and Howl’s Moving Castle, Phantasmag noted.

So Jack Skellington joins Totoro and No-Face in Loewe’s animated closet. That’s a strong lineup for a brand best known for very fancy leather.

Why is Nightmare Before Christmas everywhere this year?

It’s been a big year for Jack. The movie turned 33 in October, and it’s been all over shelves and screens:

  • Theaters: The movie returned to AMC, Regal and Cinemark screens in October, as we reported.

  • Starbucks: A Starbucks x Disney Nightmare tumbler dropped in October.

  • Bath & Body Works: A Nightmare Before Christmas collection arrived in August.

  • Her Universe: A Hot Topic collection landed in September.

  • Sam’s Club: Those cupcakes, in October.

Loewe is easily the fanciest stop on this tour. Jack spent the whole movie trying to figure out Christmas. Turns out the answer was a designer bucket bag.

When does the Loewe collection launch?

Thursday, Nov. 12. That’s eight days away, just in time for holiday shopping. Loewe posted the announcement and teaser on its social channels Wednesday.
