Tickets are $23 each for The Santa Clause, Home Alone and The Muppet Christmas Carol, or $45 for all three. Home Alone drops to $8 on Tuesday, Nov. 17.
Disney’s movie palace in Hollywood is going full holiday mode for 10 days in November.
The El Capitan Theatre will host Road to the Holidays from Nov. 13 to 22, with three Christmas classics, each paired with a vintage Disney cartoon short, Laughing Place reported.
Tickets are $23 for all ages, with fees included, according to the theater. Or call and grab the 3 Holiday Movie Bundle: all three films for $45. That’s $24 less than buying three tickets separately, by our math.
Bargain hunters, circle Tuesday, Nov. 17. Home Alone tickets drop to $8 that day under the theater’s Tuesday pricing.
Here’s a look inside the El Capitan Theatre:
What movies are playing at El Capitan’s Road to the Holidays?
Three, back to back, each with a cartoon first:
-
The Santa Clause (Nov. 13 to 15) with the 1935 Mickey Mouse short “On Ice”
-
Home Alone (Nov. 16 to 18) with the 1939 Donald Duck short “The Hockey Champ”
-
The Muppet Christmas Carol (Nov. 20 to 22) with the 1941 Goofy short “The Art of Skiing”
Notice a theme? All three shorts are winter sports cartoons. Mickey skates, Donald plays hockey and Goofy does what Goofy does on skis.
All three movies are Disney-owned now. Home Alone came along in Disney’s 2019 Fox deal, which still feels a little weird to type.
Every showing comes with a holiday photo op in the theater, per the El Capitan’s listings.
What are the El Capitan holiday showtimes?
Here’s the full schedule from the theater’s site:
-
The Santa Clause: Friday, Nov. 13, at 1, 4 and 7 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 14, at 10 a.m., 1, 4 and 7 p.m.; Sunday, Nov. 15, at 4 and 7 p.m.
-
Home Alone: Monday, Nov. 16, at 1, 4 and 7 p.m.; Tuesday and Wednesday, Nov. 17 and 18, at 10 a.m., 1, 4 and 7 p.m.
-
The Muppet Christmas Carol: Friday, Nov. 20, at 1, 4 and 7 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 21, at 10 a.m., 1, 4 and 7 p.m.; Sunday, Nov. 22, at 7 p.m. only
The Santa Clause runs 1 hour, 38 minutes, and Home Alone runs 1 hour, 44 minutes. Both are rated PG. The Muppet Christmas Carol is rated G and runs 1 hour, 27 minutes, so it’s the easy pick for little kids.
How do you buy El Capitan holiday tickets?
Single tickets are on elcapitantheatre.com. The $45 bundle is phone-only at 1-800-347-6396 (that’s 1-800-DISNEY6), and it’s subject to availability.
Active, retired and reserve military members can get ticket discounts at the box office with a valid military ID.
Save room for snacks. Two popcorn buckets and a sipper that are usually sold only at Disney parks will be at the El Capitan starting Nov. 13, Laughing Place reported. Nobody has named the designs or prices yet.
What else is coming to the El Capitan Theatre?
It’s a packed stretch for a theater that turns 100 this year. Before the holiday run, a new 4K restoration of Alice in Wonderland plays Nov. 6 to 11, and Dumbo gets a one-night screening Nov. 7 for its 85th anniversary.
After it, Disney’s Hexed moves in from Nov. 24 to Dec. 13, with Billie from the movie appearing on stage before showings. The theater is also selling a $78 Spellbinding Pack with a ticket, journal, kids cloak or blanket, popcorn and a drink.
Then Avengers: Doomsday takes over starting Dec. 17. The opening-weekend fan events are already sold out.
The El Capitan opened on Hollywood Boulevard on May 3, 1926. Disney reopened it in 1991 after a $14 million restoration, and it’s been the studio’s Hollywood showcase ever since.
