HBO Harry Potter Series Announces Director and Showrunner

The upcoming Harry Potter series for HBO’s Max has finally found a director and showrunner. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Francesca Gardinier has been hired as the project’s writer and showrunner. Mark Mylod has been hired to direct “multiple episodes.”

Gardinier and Mylod have experience working with HBO on “Succession.” Gardiner also worked on HBO’s “His Dark Materials.” Mylod worked on HBO’s “Game of Thrones” and “The Last of Us,” all high-profile shows.

Many Harry Potter fans are excited about the new series being promoted as a “faithful adaptation” of the books by author J.K. Rowling. While the films were good, they often cut a lot of content out for time or budget constraints. This show aims to be more faithful to the source material.
