The Super Bowl ad for Universal Orlando dropped, and its theme is siblings and family. Instead of hiring celebrities, they appealed directly to families with a relatable, heart-warming ad featuring two brothers.
I do want to point out that both Disney and Universal do a lot of similar spots without celebrities, but this ad has the media’s attention for some reason.
The spot, called ‘Lil’ Bro’, features an older and younger brother and showcases the sibling dynamic with an older brother always “winning” and / or calling his younger brother “little man”.
When they go to Universal Orlando, the older brother isn’t as confident as he is at home, and it gives the younger brother a chance to shine and get a bit of playful payback.

Let’s be honest, authenticity sells far better and thankfully both companies do this well.
THR talked to Norsworthy and Brooke-Taylor, the agency behind the advertisement.
They said being “honest and real” was what they were going for.
“This isn’t a transactional thing. It isn’t airbrushed. It’s just honest and real. Be with the people you love, and feel something here at these four parks across a week. These aren’t just shots of people on coasters or people enjoying the food or a water park. It’s about what happens when you connect and re-engage. You come here and be human again.”
With many people wishing for more human connection in the world, it is definitely the way to go.
It’s also worth noting that they seem have a lot of throwback 90s aesthetics in the commercial, too. The clothing, especially. It might not be intentional, but if they are going for the feeling of reconnection and nostalgia it makes sense.
