April 1 is quickly approaching, and with it comes the opening day release of “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.” Early estimates have the film performing well and doing as much in the domestic opening as “Hoppers” has done globally in 10 days.
Do keep in mind that “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie” will get a 5-day opening window due to the Easter holiday.
What do estimates say?
According to most of the estimates, “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie” is expected to go over $160 million at the domestic box office. This does not include any foreign markets that will add to the global total.
In 2023, “The Super Mario Bros Movie” did about $204M in the 5-day opening, with $146M of it being the normal 3-Day period. Some are guessing that this film could go even higher than the first film.
Many think it will outperform “The Minecraft Movie” as well.
Here is the synopsis:
Having thwarted Bowser’s previous plot to marry Princess Peach, Mario and Luigi now face a fresh threat in Bowser Jr., who is determined to liberate his father from captivity and restore the family legacy. Alongside companions new and old, the brothers travel across the stars to stop the young heir’s crusade.
The movie looks like a lot of fun, even if Chris Pratt doesn’t do Mario’s voice as well as I hoped.
