Nintendo and Illumination have officially announced that the second Super Mario Bros. Movie will be called The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, during the Nintendo Direct today. This film is scheduled to be released in the United States on April 3, 2026, with other international markets to follow throughout April.
I’m excited about this because I used to play this game with my son when he was little.
This film will be debuting during the 40th Anniversary of Nintendo, making it even more special!
Returning Cast and Creative Team
Key cast members from the 2023 blockbuster will be back, including:
- Chris Pratt as Mario
- Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach
- Charlie Day as Luigi
- Jack Black as Bowser
- Keegan-Michael Key as Toad
- Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek
Directors Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic will also return for this sequel, along with screenwriter Matthew Fogel.
Here is the trailer!
What will it be about?
Super Mario Galaxy of course.
I’m sure it’s going to tie in levels and gameplay from the original title. We will likely get Rosalina and Lumas in this film.
Given that the 2023 Super Mario Bros. Movie made over $1 billion, there is a good chance this film could do incredibly well too. I know I’m excited to see it!
