Can Disney Give Us A Haunted Mansion Resort Hotel Already?

Disney has the perfect IP for a resort hotel, and they keep sitting on it. They’ve tried pirate rooms and princess rooms and things like that, but what they really need is a Haunted Mansion-themed resort hotel.

Lately, Disney seems to have noticed that people want more Haunted Mansion.

They put Haunted Mansion Parlors on the Disney Treasure and Disney Destiny.  Just the other day, Disney announced Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion Courtyard as a wedding venue, along with the Haunted Mansion Parlors.

Disney has also had a special deal with Lowe’s on Haunted Mansion Halloween decor for the last few years.

The Hallmark Haunted Mansion series was also incredibly popular.

My point is–The Haunted Mansion is incredibly popular and has a dedicated fan base.

At both Walt Disney World and Disneyland, the Haunted Mansion is a top attraction.

Both the Magic Kingdom and Disneyland Park have a Haunted Mansion attraction that is incredibly popular. Wait times stay steady most of the time, and the ride can move a lot of guests as it’s an Omnimover attraction. Estimates place this number at about 2,000-3,000 per hour.  Even so, wait times can still run 30-40 minutes or more.

Disney likely makes millions on Haunted Mansion related brand-deals and merchandise each year. Last summer they released a bunch of new merchandise for Halloween.

So why not take it to the next level with a Haunted Mansion Resort?

A Haunted Mansion Resort Hotel or Restaurant is something guests have been requesting for a while now.

With other resort hotels themed to movies, sports, pop culture, a boardwalk, the Victorian era, and more, why can’t there be a Haunted Mansion offering?

I get that some guests could be frightened and want to change hotels, but most guests would pay more to stay in a “haunted” Disney hotel.

If it’s a cleaning problem due to the dusty feel of the attraction, no one says the rooms have to be dirty or even worn out-looking. Just put touches of the Haunted Mansion in the wallpaper, architecture, textiles, etc.

Maybe have a mirror that has the Hitchhiking Ghosts appear in it once and awhile, but can be turned off for guests who don’t want a scare in the middle of the night. (Similar to the Haunted Mansion Parlor)

Make the common areas themed to the attraction more, again without dust and cobwebs, and give the staff costumes reminiscent of the Haunted Mansion Butler or Maid uniforms.

Port Orleans has a piano player; maybe this hotel has a player piano or a big organ that plays by itself.

The possibilities are endless, and it could easily be a Deluxe accommodation.  But knowing Disney, they would make it a DVC offering.

I know it’s wishful thinking, but I would love to see this become a reality at either Disneyland or Walt Disney World.
