SONY’s 2022 Spider-Man spin-off film Morbius was seen as a disappointment by many. The film only made $163.3 Million on a $83 Million budget, that’s a steep decline in profits when compared to the $506.9 Million 2021’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage made, or even the massive $1.8 Billion made by Spider-Man: No Way Home.
The film’s reception wasn’t very good either, earning only a 17% on Rotten Tomatoes critical score while also earning a 5.2/10 on IMDb. The box office disappointment and critical slaughter was so bad that Funko canceled their Funko Pop line for the film. But apparently the film has gained new life, as a source for internet comedy.
A new meme called “It’s Morbin Time!” or sometimes just “Morbin” is a meme that combines Jared Leto’s vampire with the “It’s Morphin Time!” catchphrase of the popular Mighty Morphin Power Rangers television series of the early 1990s.
The meme seems to have originated in November, 2021 when two users were coming up with puns using the name Morbius.
Then another user in April, 2022 used the phrase after seeing the film. The phrase slowly began to gain traction and has now become the next big internet meme.
Multiple people have come up with very humorous images and scenarios online. Most being a parody of the film’s poster with half the face being the vampire and the other half being someone else:

Even the official twitter Spanish account for Kentucky Fried Chicken chimed in on the trend:

With the film releasing on home video on June 14th perhaps everyone wanting to see if Morbius really says “It’s Morbin Time” in the film will head out and buy it. That’s most likely the only way it’ll see a sequel.
With SONY’s Spider-Verse set to release more films in the near future perhaps more popular memes of their films will be made. You never know. The internet works in mysterious ways.
