Shanghai Disney Enchanted Star Hotel opens Dec. 16 with 400 rooms

Shanghai Disney Resort’s third hotel, a wishing-star-themed stay on the lake next to Shanghai Disneyland Hotel, opens Wednesday, Dec. 16. Bookings open Thursday, Nov. 5, in the U.S.

Shanghai Disney Resort finally has a date for its next hotel, and it’s a wish come true for anyone who’s tried to book a room there in peak season.

Disney Enchanted Star Hotel opens Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2026. The resort announced the date Oct. 30, Shanghai time, with the tagline “Where wishes meet a magical stay,” Laughing Place reported. That landed Thursday evening, Oct. 29, in the U.S.

It’s a nine-story deluxe hotel with 400 rooms and suites, and it’s the resort’s third Disney hotel. In Chinese it’s called Shanghai Dishini Xingyuan Jiudian, which works out to “Wishing Star Hotel.”

The new hotel sits right next to Shanghai Disneyland Hotel and shares its pools, play areas, shops and dining. Here’s a full tour of that neighbor, from The Roaming Twins:

When can you book Disney Enchanted Star Hotel?

Bookings open at midnight Shanghai time on Friday, Nov. 6. For U.S. fans, that’s 11 a.m. Eastern and 8 a.m. Pacific on Thursday, Nov. 5.

Rooms go on sale through the resort’s reservation center, its official channels and approved travel partners, according to TTG China and the Shanghai Observer. Four room types open first, including a deluxe room, a park-view deluxe room, a kids’ room and an executive room. More types open before the hotel does.

Prices haven’t been posted yet. We’ll add them when the resort shares them.

What is the Enchanted Star Hotel theme?

Wishes. The whole place is built around the legend of the wishing star, with a nod to “When You Wish Upon a Star.”

The building’s look borrows from early 20th century Shanghai, with an Art Nouveau feel. Laughing Place got a peek at the details:

  • A round lobby with a spiraling star chandelier and gold columns etched with stars

  • A half-moon window and a bronze Sorcerer Mickey statue

  • Club rooms with a fold-down bed that shows Duffy and Friends on its underside

  • Deluxe rooms with purple arched headboards and castle and star-trail murals

That Duffy bed might be the most Shanghai Disney thing ever. Duffy and his pals are huge there.

Where is the new Shanghai Disney hotel?

It’s on the shore of Wishing Star Lake, or Xingyuan Hu, right beside Shanghai Disneyland Hotel. It looks out over Shanghai Disneyland and Wishing Star Park.

A covered walkway links the two hotels. Guests of both share the fitness center, pools, play areas, shops and restaurants.

Does Disney Enchanted Star Hotel have a pool?

Two of them. There’s an indoor pool and a seasonal outdoor pool, the first outdoor pool at any Shanghai Disney hotel, per Blooloop. It notes the outdoor pool depends on the weather.

There are also indoor and outdoor play areas themed to Disney characters. Chinese reports say the hotel’s restaurant takes its inspiration from the four seasons and serves Chinese and international food. Its official English name hasn’t been confirmed.

How many hotels does Shanghai Disney Resort have?

Right now, two. Shanghai Disneyland Hotel has 420 rooms, and Toy Story Hotel has about 800.

With Enchanted Star added, the resort jumps to roughly 1,600 rooms. That matters in a place where the two current hotels fill up fast around holidays.

A fourth hotel, next to the park entrance, was announced in November 2025, Laughing Place reported.

How long has this hotel been in the works?

A while. Ground broke in August 2023, and the last main steel beam went up in January 2025, according to Laughing Place.

The name was revealed in June 2026 at the resort’s 10th anniversary celebration. Shanghai Disneyland opened June 16, 2016, and the resort says it has topped 100 million guest visits.

Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro spoke at that anniversary. “When we opened these gates, we believed we could create something the world had never seen,” he said, as quoted by the Global Times.

What else is new at Shanghai Disneyland?

The park keeps growing. Zootopia land opened in December 2023, and a ninth land themed to Spider-Man is under construction, with its coaster track fully installed, the Global Times reported in June.

So by the time you book, there may be a new land to see too. The resort’s motto, translated from Chinese, is “authentically Disney and distinctly Chinese.”

If you’ve been eyeing a Shanghai trip, set an alarm for Nov. 5.
