Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is now on the Extended Evening Hours list at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The next two nights are Oct. 14 and Oct. 28, from 9 to 11 p.m.
If you’re staying at a Disney Deluxe resort this month, one of Disney World’s most popular rides just got easier to fit in.
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is now part of Extended Evening Hours at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, WDW News Today reported on Oct. 9. The ride used to close during these after-hours sessions.
Two nights are on the calendar so far: Wednesday, Oct. 14, and Wednesday, Oct. 28. Both run from 9 to 11 p.m.
What are Extended Evening Hours at Disney World?
They’re extra park time at night for guests at certain hotels. Once the park closes to everyone else, eligible guests can stay and keep riding.
Disney’s pitch is simple: fewer people and shorter waits. It’s a perk of your hotel stay, so there’s no separate ticket to buy.
Think of it as the nighttime version of Early Theme Park Entry. Extended Evening Hours usually happen twice a week, at two different parks, for two hours each, Disney Tourist Blog has reported.
Which rides are open during Hollywood Studios Extended Evening Hours?
Nine attractions, according to WDW News Today:
-
Alien Swirling Saucers
-
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway
-
Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run
-
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets
-
Slinky Dog Dash
-
Star Tours – The Adventures Continue
-
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
-
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
-
Toy Story Mania!
So both Star Wars rides, Slinky Dog Dash and Tower of Terror are all in the mix. That’s a pretty strong two hours.
Why does Hollywood Studios have Extended Evening Hours this fall?
Halloween parties, mostly. Magic Kingdom usually hosts the Wednesday sessions, but this fall some of those dates moved to Hollywood Studios while Magic Kingdom hosts Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, WDW News Today reported.
That makes these nights rare for Hollywood Studios. The last time the park had a run of Extended Evening Hours, in 2024, Rise of the Resistance was left off the list, BlogMickey reported at the time.
Who can go to Extended Evening Hours at Hollywood Studios?
Guests staying at these hotels, according to WDW News Today:
-
Disney Deluxe Resorts, like the Contemporary, Grand Floridian, Polynesian and Wilderness Lodge
-
Disney Deluxe Villa Resorts, like Bay Lake Tower, the Riviera and Saratoga Springs
-
Walt Disney World Swan, Dolphin and Swan Reserve
-
Shades of Green
Guests at Disney’s Value and Moderate resorts don’t get this perk, Disney Tourist Blog noted.
What is Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance?
It’s the headliner of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. You join the Resistance, get captured by the First Order and have to break out of a Star Destroyer.
It opened at Hollywood Studios on Dec. 5, 2019. The whole experience mixes a trackless ride, a simulator and walk-through scenes with live actors playing First Order officers.
Disney recently filed a permit for work at the ride, WDW News Today reported. The company hasn’t said what that work is.
What else is happening at Hollywood Studios this fall?
The holidays are coming fast. Disney Jollywood Nights, the park’s separately ticketed Christmas party, runs on select nights from Nov. 7, 2026, through Jan. 5, 2027, Disney Tourist Blog reported.
Each party runs from 7:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Tickets run from $169 to $199, depending on the night. This is the first year the party stretches into January.
