Disney World raised food and drink prices on Oct. 6 and ended passholder discounts on bottled water and soda. One report says some resort pool bar margaritas went down.
Disney World’s yearly price hikes are here, and the drink menu went up with everything else. Well, most of it.
Prices rose on thousands of menu items across Walt Disney World on Oct. 6. On the same day, passholders lost their discount on bottled water and soda.
But a report from The Disney Scoop says some margaritas at resort pool bars got cheaper in the same round of changes. Disney hasn’t said a word about that part.
How much did Disney World food and drink prices go up?
Theme Park IQ, which tracks Disney World menus, counted 4,854 menu listings that went up on or around Oct. 6. The average increase was 6.3%, or about 80 cents.
Most items went up anywhere from 10 cents to $1, WDW News Today reported. A few examples:
-
Fountain drinks, Joffrey’s coffee and hot cocoa: $4.79 to $4.99
-
Regular popcorn: $5.99 to $6.29
-
Two-piece chicken strips: $8.99 to $9.49
-
Four-piece chicken strips: $10.99 to $11.99
Bottled soda and vitaminwater stayed at $5.50, WDW News Today reported.
Did Disney World raise the price of water?
It did for a lot of regulars.
Annual Passholders, Disney Vacation Club members and Disney Visa cardholders used to get their merchandise discount on bottled water and soda at Disney-owned shops. That ended on Oct. 6, WDW News Today reported, so they now pay full price.
For passholders who used that trick for years, the 20% discount was a big deal. It had been around for so long that a lot of people learned about it by word of mouth.
Did margarita prices go down at Disney World?
Some did, according to The Disney Scoop. Its report, shared by Inside the Magic, says Disney cut some margarita prices at 15 resort bars and grills, including Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto and Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. It says some wine prices came down too.
We couldn’t confirm the old and new prices ourselves, and Disney hasn’t announced any cuts. So treat this part as a report, not a done deal.
Price drops did happen, though. Theme Park IQ counted 168 menu listings that went down this month. One example is the DOLE Whip cup at Warung Outpost in Animal Kingdom, which dropped from $5.99 to $5.79.
Did margaritas in the parks and Disney Springs get cheaper too?
No. Inside the Magic reported that some park margaritas went up 50 cents, including the Sunset Margarita at Hollywood Studios, which went from $18.50 to $19.
And at least one went up a lot more. Pancho’s Margarita Royale at Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar in Disney Springs jumped from $18.50 to $28, according to Theme Park IQ.
Overall, alcoholic drinks had the smallest average increase of any category, at 4.8%, Theme Park IQ found. There are now 108 alcoholic drinks at Disney World that cost $20 or more, up from 63.
How can you save on drinks at Disney World?
Water is the easy one. Quick-service restaurants at Disney World will give you a free cup of ice water if you ask, so a refillable bottle can save you a lot over a long park day.
Disney World also lets you bring your own snacks and non-alcoholic drinks into the parks, as long as they aren’t in glass containers.
What else got more expensive at Disney World this month?
A lot. WDW News Today rounded up the rest of the Oct. 6 changes:
-
Annual Passes went up across all four tiers.
-
Tickets for late 2027 went on sale with higher peak prices, topping out at $229 for a one-day, one-park ticket.
-
Ear headbands went from $36.99 to $38.99.
-
Some tours, dessert parties and Fantasmic! dining packages went up as well.
Disney raises prices around this time almost every year. This year’s round just came with a little twist at the pool bar.
