When it comes to global IP brands, Pokémon reigns supreme with a huge lead over all the others. While Disney owns five of the top 12 brands, Universal has access to four of them, including Pokémon. If rumors of the pocket monsters coming to Universal parks in the United States are true, Disney might have more to worry about than just Mario.
The infographic comes from the Ultimate Pop Culture Wiki, and was compiled in December of 2025. Recent data.
Here are the top 12 global brands from 2025.

The leader by far is Pokémon. It’s estimated that over the span of it’s existance it has generate about $288 billion in revenue. It’s especially interesting when we compare it to a chart of top Global IP Brands from around 2020. Pokémon has skyrocketed.
It was below $100 billion and now it’s hit $288 billion. Even then it was significantly in the lead.

If we continue to compare the two charts that are based on data at that time, we see some interesting results.
Hello Kitty has gained an estimated $8 billion to stay in the second spot. Again both Pokémon and Hello Kitty have ties to Universal.
Third place is Winnie the Pooh having gained an estimated $1.7 billion in the past few years. Mickey Mouse and Friends would come in 4th gaining about $3.5 billion. Star Wars is hanging in there at 5th place (not sure how) gaining about $8.3 billion. All of these are used by Disney theme parks.
Mario is now in 6th place, moving it up a couple spots and gaining about $21.2 billion, which is a significant increase, and again they are utilized at Universal theme parks.
Disney Princesses is in 8th place, just below Anpanman. Princesses gained $1.1 billion, but dropped down a place on the charts.
Marvel comes in 9th with a $14 billion gain.
Wizarding World of Harry Potter has dropped a spot to the 11th spot, with Shonan Jump in the 10th spot. Again, this one is utilized by Universal.
What do these numbers mean for Disney and Universal?
Disney hold more IP control with five of the top 12, giving them around $315.8 billion control in the top IP Brand list.
Universal has the ability to use four of the top 12, giving them access to the IPs worth around $471.5 billion. If rumors are true and Pokémon comes to Universal parks stateside, Disney may have reason to be concerned.
However, it is noteable that Disney owns their IPs with Universal just has deals to use theirs. That is an important consideration for sure.
Who wins this battle?
The fans / park goers.
Either way, Disney and Universal are positioned with 9 of the top 12 IPs at their parks. This means that visitors to Orlando or the LA area / Anaheim are the real winners here. If Pokémon is added that is an even bigger win for fans.
