Pixar Trying To Generate Hype For “Hoppers” Now That Tickets Are On Sale– But Does Anyone Care?

Tickets for “Hoppers” are now on sale, according to a Pixar post on X.  Immediately followed by the #Hoppers on a bunch of accounts saying they saw it and singing the praises of the film. It just all seems to happen on the same day.

Am I buying the hype train?

Honestly, No.

I have not seen a lot of people talking about “Hoppers” or saying they even want to see it.

Now I’m not saying it’s a bad film. I don’t know, but what I do know is that this one has not had a lot of buzz around fandom circles, movie talk circles, or even in my real-life circles.

Yet, today these positive, glowing reviews have appeared from people with alleged early access, but the engagement has me asking questions.

But wait, it gets weird

For a lot of these accounts, there are no comments or very few comments, but a large number of likes. For some, the like count seems disproportionately large to their usual interactions on posts.

Let me show you what I mean.

(This is in no way throwing shade at the posters. I am questioning what Disney/Pixar may be doing to try to make it appear popular.)

Take this post for example

It’s been up for several hours and has 1 comment, 185 likes and 41 retweets (No quotes in there I checked just plain retweets.)

How about this one,

It says six comments, but I can only see two. 72 retweets (again with no quote tweets) and he has 509 likes (jumped to 512 in a couple of minutes)? But he only has like 760 followers.

(It went to 524 a few minutes later.)

This next one I would expect a lot more interaction on as they have 86k followers.

One comment and 47 shares (only one quote tweet.)

Here we go again.

No comments, 60 retweets (0 quote tweets again), and 304 likes.

And another. You guessed it. Same as the others.

It’s all just weird.

My opinion is that Disney knows this one is going more “Elio” than “Zootopia” so they are trying to buzz it up to see if it helps. Then they have to decide if they go all in and push hard for advertising or cut their losses like they did with “Elio.”

Again, not saying it’s a bad film because I don’t know, but I do know Hollywood and marketing bs and this one smells strong.

By the way tickets are on sale now.

What do you think? Comment and let us know!
