Disney has just named Josh D’Amaro as the new CEO of the company effective March 18. Dana Walden has been named Presiden and CCO. Now we know how much each of them will make in their new positions.
Josh D’Amaro
D’Amaro will receive a pay package valued at about $38 million. Here’s how it breaks down,
- Base salary is set at $2.5 million
- One time award of $9.75 million when he becomes CEO
- Each year as CEO gives him a “long-term stock incentive of $26.2 million.”
- Each year he can receive an annual bonus up to 250% of base salary IF performance goals are met.
For comparison current Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger received a package valued at around $48 million including base pay, stock options, and bonuses.
Dana Walden
Walden will receive a pay packaged valued at about $24 million.
- Base salary of $3.75 million
- One time award of $5.26 million when her contract starts
- Each year she can receive a bonus of up to 200% of her base salary.
- Annual stock awards up to $15.75 million
- A “Hit Series Bonus” is also part of her contract if she greenlights an original that meets key metrics.
Her contract term is currently slated for three years and will run through March 17, 2030.
Personally, I think she is being given this new role to focus on Hollywood as D’Amaro doesn’t have connections there and they reportedly call him “the theme park guy.” Disney is banking heavily on streaming and theatrical. Lately, like a lot of studios, the theatrical returns are declining.
All of this will still be subject to approval by the Walt Disney Board’s compensation committee.
