Old Navy’s Muppet Christmas Carol pajamas are out, from $19.99

Nine pieces, $19.99 to $44.99, online only. Kermit and Miss Piggy as the Cratchits, Gonzo as Dickens, and Rizzo along for the food.

Halloween hasn’t even happened yet, and Old Navy already has Christmas pajamas out.

Old Navy and Disney released a Muppet Christmas Carol collection online in late September, per WDW News Today. There are nine pieces, running from a $19.99 T-shirt to a $44.99 pajama set, and they’re online only for now.

The 1992 movie turns 34 this year. Michael Caine was Scrooge, and the Muppets played everybody else.

What’s in the Old Navy Muppet Christmas Carol collection?

Mostly pajamas, plus two T-shirts.

The main pattern repeats across almost every piece. It’s Kermit and Miss Piggy as Bob and Emily Cratchit, Robin as Tiny Tim, Gonzo as Charles Dickens and Rizzo the Rat, mixed in with holiday wreaths and lamp posts on a white background.

For adults, per WDWNT:

  • Flannel pajama pants for women, $29.99, elastic waist with a white ribbon

  • Flannel pajama shorts set for women, $44.99, a collared button-up shirt and shorts

  • Oversized graphic T-shirt for women, $19.99

  • Graphic T-shirt for men, $19.99, boxy cut

  • Flannel pajama pants for men, $29.99

The T-shirts break from the pattern. They put a small Bob Cratchit and Tiny Tim over the left chest, with a bigger scene on the back that includes the Ghost of Christmas Present and the words “It feels like Christmas” in red serif type.

Does the Muppets collection come in kids’ sizes?

Yes, down to baby.

There’s a two-way-zip sleep and play one-piece for babies at $19.99, with fold-over mittens and sewn-in feet. A snug-fit pajama set for toddlers and babies is $24.99.

Bigger kids get two gender-neutral options. A collared pajama set with a chest pocket is $44.99, and a snug-fit set is $36.99.

That last one has the best joke in the collection. The shirt shows Gonzo and Rizzo inside a green wreath, with a line from the movie wrapped around them: “I am here to tell the story. And I am here for the food.”

Anyone who’s seen it knows which one is which.

Why is Muppet Christmas Carol merch coming out so early?

Because the calendar says so, whether you like it or not.

Retailers have been pushing holiday product earlier every year, and Disney’s own Muppet Show 50th anniversary merch has been rolling out since summer. A Muppets Christmas line landing the last weekend of September fits right in with that.

It also lands as The Muppets are having a moment at the parks. They just took over the pre-show at World of Color at Disney California Adventure, and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Hollywood Studios now stars them.

Is The Muppet Christmas Carol on Disney+?

Yes, and it’s been there since the service launched in 2019.

The film was the first Muppet movie made after Jim Henson’s death, directed by his son Brian Henson. It was also the first to give a human the lead, with Michael Caine playing Scrooge completely straight while frogs and rats acted around him. Caine has said he played it as if he were doing the Royal Shakespeare Company.

The song “When Love Is Gone” was cut from the theatrical release and later restored. Disney+ added the full-length version back on Dec. 9, 2022, after fans spent years asking for it, per Playbill.

Where can you buy the Old Navy Muppet Christmas Carol collection?

Online, at oldnavy.com. WDWNT lists the collection as online only, and Old Navy hasn’t said whether it will reach stores.

Old Navy’s Disney collaborations tend to sell through fast in kids’ sizes, especially matching family sets. If you want the whole household in Cratchit pajamas for the holiday card, don’t wait too long to grab them.

Gonzo would tell you to hurry. Rizzo would tell you to grab a snack first.
