Marvel released a new Avengers: Doomsday trailer featuring various professional baseball players because it aired during an MLB game. It hasn’t gone over as well as Disney likely hoped.
Marvel has released a new trailer for Avengers: Doomsday.
It originally aired last night during Game 1 of the MLB World Series. So, as a Disney tie-in, Disney did what it usually does and tried to make it all about itself.
So they released a trailer featuring MLB players reacting as if the events of Doomsday were happening around them.
The results are mixed.
Here is the trailer
The trailer is set on the Earth of the Fantastic Four. Reed Richards is pitching at a baseball game when Doctor Doom shows up.
Since it’s a baseball game scene, Disney decided to put in MLB players.
The only good part of the trailer was Scott (Ant-Man) calling Steve Rogers Cap in front of Sam Wilson and then trying to walk it back.
Reactions have been mixed but many are not happy
Some are angry that the “new trailer” was not really a trailer.
“Every leaker: this will not be a full trailer
“Ah yes, sportsball fans. The target demographic of comic books.”
“New trailer for doomsday” and it’s just a baseball add” – kermit on steroids
Everyone: wth this isn’t a trailer”- cooliostarstache5474
“Why’d I get my hopes up” – J_Juice88
“You’re less then 2 months away
And this is the teaser you give us?
During the World Series?!?”-mtpluggrinder
“3 seconds of new footage” JoaB1-J
“I mean at least we got one frame showing shang chi and both caps” – Infinityrblx354
“The MLB will return in Avengers: Doomsday” type commercial” – BobaBricks_OG
“Avengers Doomsday trailer ❌
MLB trailer ✅”
“steve rogers being back is the only reason i’m sitting through another multiverse movie” – Tonio
Again, many are excited about this film as well, but this “look” did not do it any favors.
Avengers: Doomsday releases to theaters on December 18, 2026.
Let’s hope we don’t get another sports tie-in trailer.
