Universal’s year-round horror spot in Las Vegas turns into a creepy winter wonderland for Krampus and Kin, Nov. 19 to Jan. 10, with new monsters, a black tree and holiday snacks.
Santa has competition in Las Vegas again this year, and this guy carries chains.
Krampus and Kin returns to Universal Horror Unleashed on select nights from Thursday, Nov. 19, 2026, through Sunday, Jan. 10, 2027, WDW News Today reported Oct. 29. It’s the holiday overlay for Universal’s year-round horror attraction at AREA15, and it’s included with regular admission.
This is the event’s second year. The first Krampus and Kin ran from Nov. 15, 2025, to Jan. 3, 2026, Inside Universal reported.
Here’s a full walk-through of last year’s event from Destination Geek:
What is Krampus and Kin at Universal Horror Unleashed?
It’s a holiday horror makeover of the whole warehouse, minus the haunted houses themselves. Regular characters get dressed up in their holiday best. New ones show up, too.
Several times a night, a big character procession marches through the building and ends at a towering black Christmas tree for a tree-lighting show. Reports put the tree somewhere over 20 feet, so yes, it’s taller than yours.
The cast pulls from winter folklore across Europe. Krampus is back, along with Gryla and the Kallikantzaroi. All Hallows Geek reports three newcomers for 2026: Mari Lwyd, Hans Trapp and Frau Perchta.
Who is Krampus, anyway?
Krampus comes from Alpine folklore in places like Austria and southern Germany. He’s a horned, hairy creature who travels with St. Nicholas.
The deal is simple. St. Nick rewards the good kids. Krampus handles the naughty ones, usually with a bundle of switches and a lot of rattling chains.
Old European holiday postcards loved him. Many said “Gruss vom Krampus,” or “Greetings from Krampus,” which is a wild thing to mail your grandma.
His big night is traditionally Dec. 5, Krampusnacht, the eve of St. Nicholas Day. Universal stretches it out to almost two months.
What are the new Krampus and Kin zones?
Universal is adding limited-time areas just for the season, per WDWNT and Dread Central:
-
Frost Bite, where the Vampire Frost Queen rules from her throne, with new Frost Stalker and Frost Guard characters
-
Home for the Horrordays, hosted by the Twin Sister and Twin Brother
-
Kill Vault Video, a third seasonal zone
The four haunted houses stay open during the event: Universal Monsters, The Exorcist: Believer, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Scarecrow: The Reaping.
What food is at Krampus Haus?
Krampus Haus is the event’s pop-up eatery. You buy a Krampus-themed dining pass at check-in, then trade it for bites from four food stalls. You can mix and match or get four of the same thing.
The pass price hasn’t been posted.
The menu, per WDWNT:
-
The Chains of Krampus: a Bavarian-style pretzel with cheese fondue and a mustard dip
-
Naughty, Naughty: smoked, cranberry-glazed chicken drumettes
-
Feast of the Holy Innards: a spiral Feuerwurst sausage with fire-roasted pepper relish and mustard
-
Perchta’s Pie: a fried apple pie turnover with vanilla bean icing
The Holy Innards one is a sausage. We checked. You’re fine.
How much are Universal Horror Unleashed tickets?
AREA15’s official page says tickets start at $49.99 and must be bought ahead of time for a specific date.
Haunted Attraction Network lists three options: a Fraidy Cat pass with no haunted houses from $14.99, general admission from $49.99 and an unlimited pass from $69.99, plus tax.
The same outlet lists event hours of 4 to 10:30 p.m., Thursday through Sunday, with the venue closed on Thanksgiving, Dec. 21 to 25 and New Year’s Eve. Check Universal’s calendar before you go, since that schedule hasn’t come straight from Universal yet.
Is Krampus and Kin OK for kids?
AREA15 recommends Horror Unleashed for guests 13 and older, and anyone under 18 has to be with an adult.
So it’s a teen-and-up holiday outing. The Fraidy Cat pass is the gentler choice for anyone who wants the festive scares without the haunted houses.
Where is Universal Horror Unleashed?
It’s inside AREA15, the immersive entertainment complex at 3215 S. Rancho Drive in Las Vegas, just west of the Strip. Universal opened the attraction there in August 2025.
It’s the closest thing to Halloween Horror Nights you can visit almost any weekend of the year. And for a few weeks, it’s the only place we know of where Christmas comes with a curfew enforced by goat legs.
