Disney’s Hollywood Studios abruptly cancelled the 8 p.m. Fantasmic! show on Oct. 21, about 10 minutes in. Guests were told the show was “unable to continue.”
Mickey’s battle with the Disney villains ended early this week.
The 8 p.m. performance of Fantasmic! at Disney’s Hollywood Studios was cancelled partway through on Wednesday, Oct. 21, according to WDW News Today.
Disney hasn’t said what caused the stop.
What happened at Fantasmic at Hollywood Studios?
The show stopped about 10 minutes in. Right after the Aladdin rope-swing scene, the stage lights went out, WDWNT reported.
An announcement then told guests the show was “unable to continue.” Guests posting on Reddit described the show stopping suddenly.
Why did Fantasmic stop?
Disney hasn’t given a reason. Shows like Fantasmic can be stopped for many reasons, including an equipment or set problem, a safety concern or an issue with a performer, WDWNT noted.
One Reddit user who said they were a former entertainment technician guessed that a problem with a later scene may have caused the stop. That hasn’t been confirmed. WDWNT didn’t report any injuries.
Did the second Fantasmic show go on?
It appears so. The 9:30 p.m. show went on as planned, according to a Reddit user cited by WDWNT. Disney hasn’t confirmed that.
Do you get anything if Fantasmic is cancelled?
Disney hasn’t said whether guests at the stopped show got anything. Fantasmic is included with park admission, so most guests didn’t pay extra to see it.
If you booked a Fantasmic dining package or paid for Lightning Lane and your show is cancelled, it’s worth stopping by Guest Relations or contacting Disney through the My Disney Experience app to ask about options.
Has Fantasmic had problems before?
Disneyland’s version has. Fantasmic at Disneyland ran without pyrotechnics for several nights in August 2026, WDWNT reported.
The California show has faced a growing list of technical and operational issues since a 2023 fire destroyed its famous dragon, according to WDWNT. Disneyland later brought the show back with a new dragon.
What is Fantasmic at Hollywood Studios?
A nighttime show where Mickey Mouse battles famous Disney villains inside his own imagination. It mixes live performers, boats, water screens, fire and fireworks.
The Walt Disney World version opened in 1998 at the Hollywood Hills Amphitheater, a huge outdoor theater near Sunset Boulevard. It returned in 2022 after a long pandemic break, with updated scenes.
When does Fantasmic play at Hollywood Studios?
Showtimes change by day. On Oct. 21, the show was scheduled at 8 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Check the My Disney Experience app for the latest times before you go.
Fantasmic can also be delayed or cancelled because of rain, lightning or high winds.
What other nighttime shows are at Hollywood Studios?
Wonderful World of Animation is the park’s other big nighttime show. It uses projections and fireworks on the Chinese Theater to celebrate classic Disney and Pixar animation.
It’s a good backup if Fantasmic is cancelled, since it plays on Hollywood Boulevard and doesn’t need the amphitheater.
Tips for seeing Fantasmic at Hollywood Studios
Arrive early. The theater fills up fast, especially on busy nights. Many guests line up 30 minutes to an hour before showtime to get good seats.
The later show is often less crowded. Sitting toward the middle gives you the best view of the water screens, and the first few rows can get wet. If a show is cancelled, it’s also worth checking the app to see if the next performance is still on.
