All 5 Ice Age movies are in Netflix’s Top 10 at the same time

The five Disney-owned films pulled 23.9 million views in one week, and Netflix tied the run to Ice Age: Boiling Point, which hits theaters on Feb. 5, 2027.

Sid, Manny and Diego are having a very good month on Netflix.

All five Ice Age movies landed in Netflix’s global Top 10 for English-language films for the week of Oct. 12 to 18, Cartoon Brew reported Wednesday, Oct. 21. Together, they racked up 23.9 million views.

The movies just arrived on Netflix on Oct. 4, as part of a new deal with Disney, as PNP reported. And Netflix is already pointing to Disney’s next Ice Age movie.

Where did the Ice Age movies rank on Netflix?

Here’s the chart for the week, according to Cartoon Brew:

  • No. 3: Ice Age: Collision Course, 6.3 million views.

  • No. 4: Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, 4.9 million.

  • No. 5: Ice Age, 4.8 million.

  • No. 8: Ice Age: Continental Drift, 4.3 million.

  • No. 10: Ice Age: The Meltdown, 3.6 million.

Corpse Bride came in at No. 6, Cartoon Brew noted. That means animated movies held six of the 10 spots.

Why are Disney movies on Netflix?

Disney signed a licensing deal with Netflix in early October, Variety first reported, as PNP covered at the time. Percy Jackson and the Olympians and all five Ice Age films were the first titles, arriving Sunday, Oct. 4.

Pixar’s Soul and Elio are set to follow in early 2027. Meanwhile, Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3 premieres Nov. 20 on Disney+, as PNP reported.

The deal isn’t exclusive, so the movies are still on Disney+ and Hulu, too. If you already have Disney+, you don’t lose anything.

What did Netflix say about the Ice Age movies?

Netflix linked the movies’ big week directly to Disney’s upcoming sequel in its investor materials this week, Cartoon Brew reported.

Netflix argues its reach, which it says is approaching one billion people, makes it a strong partner for studios that want to grow a franchise. In other words, Netflix is pitching itself as a way to sell movie tickets.

Getting the older films in front of kids could build interest for the new one, Cartoon Brew noted.

Cartoon Brew called it a little funny that Netflix used its earnings presentation to show how well it can sell Disney’s movie tickets. It also said the deal shows how far streaming has moved from keeping big titles exclusive.

When does Ice Age: Boiling Point come out?

Feb. 5, 2027. Disney revealed the title and date at its Destination D23 event, as PNP has reported.

It’s the sixth Ice Age movie and the first since Disney bought the franchise along with 20th Century Fox.

The voice cast is back, too. Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Queen Latifah, Denis Leary and Simon Pegg all return, according to Disney’s announcement at D23 Brasil.

Here’s the first teaser, from Disney:

Who made the Ice Age movies?

Blue Sky Studios made all five. Disney got the studio when it bought 21st Century Fox, and it shut Blue Sky down in 2021, Cartoon Brew noted.

The new movie comes from 20th Century Animation, Cartoon Brew said.

Cartoon Brew pointed out that Nimona, a Blue Sky movie Disney shelved, was later revived and released by Netflix in 2023. It suggested Blue Sky was worth more than Disney realized at the time.

What other Disney animated sequels are coming in 2027?

Ice Age kicks off a big year. Frozen III lands at Thanksgiving 2027, and The New Simpsons Movie is on the way, too, as PNP reported.

Pixar has an original in the mix, as well. Gatto, from Luca director Enrico Casarosa, is set for March 5, 2027, as PNP reported.

How can you watch the Ice Age movies?

All five are streaming on Netflix, Disney+ and Hulu right now. That makes it easy to catch up before Boiling Point hits theaters.

If your family is doing a marathon, that’s five movies and a lot of Scrat. Pace yourself on the popcorn.
