It seems that the family of the woman who was found unresponsive and later passed away at the hospital after riding the “Revenge of the Mummy” at Universal Studios Florida is suing. They have hired the same lawyer who got a settlement over the “Stardust Racers” death, Ben Crump.
The victim has been identified as Ma de La Luz Mejia Rosas, 70. She died on November 25.
Crump Law has posted a statement saying,

Attorney Ben Crump Retained by Family of Woman Who Died.
After Riding Revenge of the Mummy at Universal Orlando Ma de La Luz Mejia Rosas was visiting the park with her children and grandchildren.
ORLANDO, Fla. (January 20, 2026) – Nationally renowned civil rights attorney Ben Crump has been retained by the family of Ma de La Luz Mejia Rosas, a 70-year-old woman who became unresponsive after riding the Revenge of the Mummy attraction at Universal Orlando Resort in November and later died.
According to a Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services incident report, Rosas became unresponsive while riding the indoor roller coaster on November 25 and was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The family is seeking answers and full transparency regarding the circumstances surrounding her death, including information related to the ride’s operations, safety protocols, maintenance history, and any available incident data.
Attorney Crump issued the following statement:
“Mrs. Rosas went to the park to enjoy time with her children and grandchildren, expecting a safe and joyful experience. Instead, her family is now left grieving and searching for answers. They deserve a full understanding of what happened before, during, and after this ride. We intend to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding this tragedy and ensure her family’s voice is heard.”
Crump states they want “full transparency regarding the circumstances surrounding her death, including information related to the ride’s operations, safety protocols, maintenance history, and any available incident data.”
Unless there is a glaring issue with the attraction, I don’t know if Crump will get a settlement as easily this time. Since the “Stardust Racers” incident, Universal Orlando has ramped up their safety guidelines, signage, and more. “Revenge of the Mummy” even has a safety video play before you get on the ride.
I guess it will depend on Universal’s legal team or the courts.
