Family of Four Arrested After Allegedly Assaulting Universal Orlando Hotel Employee Over Parking Validation

A family visiting the Universal Orlando Resort was reportedly questioned by police after an altercation with a hotel employee at Loews Portofino Bay Hotel over a parking validation dispute. Three of those family members were later charged, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by People.

The incident occurred the evening of January 19, 2026, when the family of four attempted to have four parking tickets validated after dining at a hotel restaurant. According to the affidavit, the employee agreed to validate two tickets but refused to validate the other two.

Dispute Over Validation Turns Physical

Police say the situation escalated when one of the family members, 45-year-old Amanda Brito, became confrontational after the employee declined to validate the remaining parking tickets. The employee reportedly told police that Brito began yelling and struck the worker’s iPad before the disagreement turned physical.

The police say the victim got a supervisor, but Brito hit her.

“The employee claimed Amanda “hit [the employee] in the face and pull[ed] her hair” before “all four subjects began to punch and kick her all at the same time.” She further claims she was punched in the stomach and legs and “ended up on the ground fighting with all four individuals until the fight was broken up by hotel staff.”

A hotel supervisor did witness part of the incident and confirmed that the family had returned multiple times to attempt validation and tried to validate tickets without staff assistance, according to the document.

He also claimed that he did witness the family hit the employee.

Brito claims the employee called her “ugly” and was putting her hand on her to calm her down.

Arrests and Charges

Orlando police responded to the scene around 9:45 p.m. and took statements from the employee and witnesses. The alleged victim reported redness on her arm from the encounter and indicated that she wanted to press charges.

According to People, the police did note that they could not determine if the redness was from the incident.

Three members of the family, including Amanda Brito (45), Laura Alonso Silva (23), and Humberto Dorto (18) were arrested and charged with first-degree battery, according to Orange County court records. Brito’s daughter, Olivia Brito, was not charged.

People report that they did reach out to the family, Universal Orlando, and the Orlando police, but have not yet received a comment back.
