Disney and Great Irish Pubs Florida, Inc., the owners of Raglan Road, have avoided court after a wrongful death lawsuit was withdrawn by Jeffrey Piccolo’s attorneys.
Previously, we reported that Dr. Kanokporn Tangsuan had eaten at Raglan Road after reportedly being assured multiple times that her food was allergen-free. She was later served a meal without allergen-free flag markers, but was again assured it was allergen-free. Not long after she left the restaurant, she suffered anaphylactic shock and used her EpiPen. Sadly, that did not resolve her issue, and she still passed away. This happened in October 2023.
The lawsuit
As a result, her husband, Jeffrey Piccolo, sued both Great Irish Pubs Florida, Inc. and Disney for wrongful death in February 2024.
Disney claimed that the restaurant was privately owned and operated in Disney Springs. They did not control restaurant operations. When that didn’t work, Disney lawyers famously argued that Piccolo had used Disney+ during a free trial, and he agreed to the terms of service requiring all disputes to be settled via arbitration. The general public balked at that assertion, and Disney agreed to a trial by jury.
On February 27, 2026, Piccolo’s attorneys withdrew the lawsuit over two years after it was filed.
This probably means some form of settlement has been made. We will likely never know the details or even get confirmation of a settlement because Disney attorneys usually require confidentiality clauses as part of the deal.
The whole situation highlights how dangerous it can be for those with food allergies to eat at restaurants. She did what she was supposed to do and alerted staff to her issues, and even rechecked when her food arrived. Please stay diligent even when visiting a theme park like Walt Disney World.
