Disney’s Mirrorverse To Shut Down After Only Two Years.

After being online for only a little over two years Disney has announced that their mobile role-playing game Disney Mirrorverse will shut down this December.

Originally released in early 2022, Disney Mirrorverse was a massive project created in collaboration with Kabam (Developers of Marvel Contest of Champions and Star Wars: Uprising). It took many classic Disney and Pixar characters and had them team up to battle the forces of darkness. Many of these characters were given a makeover that made them look like they came right out of Overwatch.

In addition to the game, McFarlane Toys released a line of action figures, each varying in scale with 5”, 7”, and 12” toys. However, the toyline lasted only three waves and had a total of 24 different figures (including variants).

The news comes from Disney’s Mirrorverse team in a statement from the official website on September 17th:

Disney Mirrorverse Community,

After countless adventures in Disney Mirrorverse with our cast of evolved heroes and villains, this current chapter of the Mirrorverse saga is soon coming to a close. With this conclusion to the game’s storyline, we have made the decision to sunset the Disney Mirrorverse game for both iOS and Android and will be shutting down all servers on December 16, 2024.

As of today, we will be disabling all In-App Purchases (purchases that cost real money) and removing the game from app storefronts so it will no longer be available for download. If you already have the game installed, you can continue to play up until December 16, 2024 including the remaining content that will be released over the coming weeks which wraps up this Mirrorverse storyline.

Our sincere thanks to you, our amazing community of players, who have made this journey unforgettable. Your support and passionate dedication to the game is truly inspiring to our team. Being able to create this game, and evolving beloved characters and worlds in new and imaginative ways has been a labor of love and our great honor.

With all our gratitude, The Disney Mirrorverse Team

With this game’s shutdown, it does raise concern for other Disney free-to-play games such as SpeedstormMeele Mania, and even Dreamlight Valley. Not to mention the rumored Disney Domination fighting game or the rumored video game adaptation of Lorcana. Which one could be next to get the axe? Only time will tell.

What do you think? Was Disney’s Mirrorverse a good game while it lasted? Or did it overstay its welcome? Let us know your thoughts.
