Disney’s BoardWalk Inn refurb extends into 2027 with pool closure

Disney now says refurbishment work at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and Villas runs through 2027, and the Luna Park Pool closes Jan. 11 to April 2027, while Old Key West’s exterior work stretches into fall.

Disney quietly updated its refurbishment notices for two Disney World resorts at the start of October, and both projects got longer. WDW News Today spotted the changes on Monday, Oct. 5.

The biggest one for families: BoardWalk’s main pool is closing for a few months next year.

How long will the BoardWalk Inn refurbishment at Disney World last?

Longer than Disney said before.

The old notice said work at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and Disney’s BoardWalk Villas would run through late 2026. It now says through 2027, in “select areas” of the resort.

Disney didn’t give an end date within 2027. It says construction may be seen or heard during the day.

The resort stays open the whole time. Guests just get more months of work going on around them.

When is the Luna Park Pool closing at Disney’s BoardWalk?

Starting Jan. 11, 2027, these spots close for routine maintenance through April 2027:

• the Luna Park Pool

• the Luna Park Crazy Play Area

• Leaping Horse Libations, the pool bar

The Luna Park Pool is the big one, with the Keister Coaster waterslide. That’s the pool most kids will ask about first.

Its name comes from Luna Park, the old Coney Island amusement park that the BoardWalk’s look borrows from.

The resort’s two smaller pools, the Villas Pool and the Inn Pool, stay open the whole time.

Disney first announced the Luna Park Pool closure in September 2025, Laughing Place reported at the time, and the dates haven’t moved since.

Will the BoardWalk pool closure affect spring break?

If you’re going in February or March, yes. April is a maybe, since Disney’s notice just says “through April 2027” without a reopening date.

That window covers Presidents’ Day weekend, which lands Feb. 13 to 15, 2027, and a big chunk of spring break season. Easter also falls inside it, on March 28, 2027.

Disney describes the work as routine maintenance and hasn’t said what, if anything, will look different when the pool reopens. If a big pool day is a must, ask Disney about the timing before you book, or plan on one of the smaller pools.

What is happening at Old Key West?

Disney’s Old Key West Resort got an extension too.

Exterior work on the Hospitality House was supposed to wrap up by mid-September 2026. Disney now says it continues through fall 2026.

Old Key West opened in 1991 as Disney’s very first Disney Vacation Club resort, so it’s had a lot of birthdays.

That mid-September date had already come and gone before Disney updated the notice. Guests may run into daytime construction and may need to use different walkways around the Hospitality House. If you’re staying there this fall, give yourself a few extra minutes getting around.

Where is Disney’s BoardWalk Inn?

It sits on Crescent Lake, between EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. You can walk to EPCOT’s back entrance, or take a boat to either park.

The Inn opened in 1996, and the Villas side is part of the Disney Vacation Club. That location is a big reason it books up, and a big reason a pool closure stings.

What else is changing at Disney’s BoardWalk?

This isn’t BoardWalk’s first construction headline this year. Disney closed the BoardWalk’s Village Green in August as part of the same refurbishment work, according to WDWMagic.

So if you’re a BoardWalk regular, expect some walls and noise for a while.

Disney’s notices don’t mention the shops and restaurants along the boardwalk itself.
