Disney World’s Premier Pass sells out for Columbus Day weekend

Lightning Lane Premier Pass is sold out at Magic Kingdom from Oct. 9 to 12 and at Hollywood Studios for most of the holiday weekend, the first sellouts since Easter, even at up to $429 a person.

Planning to pay your way past the lines at Disney World this holiday weekend? At two parks, you’re too late.

Lightning Lane Premier Pass is sold out at Magic Kingdom from Friday, Oct. 9, through Monday, Oct. 12, according to WDWMagic. Hollywood Studios is sold out for most of that stretch too.

It’s the first wave of Premier Pass sellouts since Easter weekend in April.

Which Disney World parks are sold out of Premier Pass?

As of Monday morning, Oct. 5, this is how it looked:

  • Hollywood Studios: sold out Oct. 9, 10 and 11, plus Tuesday, Oct. 13

How much does Lightning Lane Premier Pass cost?

Not cheap. Magic Kingdom’s Premier Pass is running $379 to $429 a person over the next four weeks, according to WDWMagic. That’s near the top of its all-time range of $299 to $449.

And that’s per person, per day, on top of your park ticket.

Across all four parks, October Premier Pass prices run from $159 to $429, according to WDW News Today. Magic Kingdom is at the top of that range.

So a family of four paying $429 each spends $1,716 on one day of shorter lines. Before anybody buys a ticket, a churro or a pair of ears.

People are buying it anyway. Enough of them, apparently, to clear out the whole weekend.

What is Lightning Lane Premier Pass?

It’s Disney’s priciest line-skipping option, which Disney rolled out in 2024.

Premier Pass gets you into the Lightning Lane once at every eligible ride in one park, for one day. You don’t have to book return times the way you do with other Lightning Lane options.

Disney sells a limited number each day. That’s why it can sell out, even at these prices.

Why is Columbus Day weekend so busy at Disney World?

Monday, Oct. 12, is Columbus Day, which is also Indigenous Peoples’ Day in many places. It’s a federal holiday, and plenty of schools give kids a long weekend around it.

Long weekends mean bigger crowds, and bigger crowds make a guaranteed shortcut look a lot more tempting.

When will Disney World Premier Pass sell out next?

WDWMagic says the sellouts tend to follow a pattern. They show up around big holidays, even when prices are at their highest.

If that holds, Thanksgiving week and the Christmas holidays are the next stretches to watch.

What can you do if Premier Pass is sold out?

You still have options:

  • Switch parks. Animal Kingdom’s Premier Pass still has availability, and EPCOT is only sold out Saturday and Sunday.
  • Buy individual Lightning Lanes. Single Pass and Multi Pass are still sold separately, closer to your park day.
  • Get there early. Standby lines are usually shortest right at park opening.

October is busy at Disney World anyway. The resort just turned 55 on Oct. 1.

And for next year’s planners, Columbus Day always lands on the second Monday in October. In 2027, that’s Oct. 11.

If Magic Kingdom on Columbus Day is the plan this year, plan for lines. Animal Kingdom is the holdout, at least for now.
