Disney Cruise Line reveals the Disney Believe’s homeport, itineraries, venues and entertainment in a Wednesday livestream, two days after showing off the Tinker Bell coin under the ship’s keel.
The Disney Believe has a name, a bow and a Moana statue. What it doesn’t have yet is a home.
That changes Wednesday, Oct. 7. Disney Cruise Line will reveal the new ship’s homeport, itineraries, new venues, family dining and entertainment in a livestream at 4:30 p.m. ET.
That’s 1:30 p.m. PT. The stream runs on the Disney Parks YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok accounts, and you can watch it right here when it starts:
What will Disney reveal about the Disney Believe on Oct. 7?
The homeport is the big one. That’s where the ship sails from, and Disney hasn’t said.
After that, Disney promised itineraries, new venues, family dining and entertainment. So by Wednesday night, you should know where the Believe goes and some of what’s on board.
What’s already public: the ship sets sail in late 2027, and its stories come from Disney Animation’s Encanto, Frozen, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Moana and The Little Mermaid.
What’s on the Disney Believe’s keel coin?
Tinker Bell.
On Monday, Oct. 5, Disney shared photos from the Believe’s keel laying at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. DCL Fan reported the ceremony took place Sept. 29.
A custom coin went under the keel. It shows a portrait of Tinker Bell, with “Disney Cruise Line” and “Believe” engraved on it, and it matches the artwork headed for the ship’s bow.
Disney Cruise Line said Tinker Bell is there to give the ship “a sprinkle of faith, trust, and pixie dust.” Which, for a ship called Believe, is pretty on the nose.
Why do cruise ships put a coin under the keel?
It’s an old sailing custom that goes back to ancient Greece and Rome. A coin sits under the keel for a while, and it’s supposed to bring good luck to the ship and its future crew.
The keel is the backbone of a ship. It runs along the center of the bottom, from bow to stern.
Disney has handed this job to a character before. Captain Minnie Mouse was on the coin for the Disney Wish in 2021, and a “Voyager Minnie” design was on the Disney Treasure‘s coin in 2023.
How far along is the Disney Believe?
The ship is being built in three giant sections called gigablocks. Each one is pre-built with walls, plumbing and wiring, and can weigh more than 31,000 tons.
The first gigablock, the middle of the ship with the Grand Hall, floated out of the shipyard on Sept. 18. The keel laying came 11 days later.
The forward section is being built now. The aft section comes last.
What we already know about the Disney Believe
Disney announced the ship’s name on March 18. The Believe is the fourth ship in Disney’s Wish class, after the Disney Wish, Disney Treasure and Disney Destiny.
All of them come out of the same German shipyard, Meyer Werft.
Tinker Bell will be on the bow, and Woody and Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story will be on the stern. Inside, the Grand Hall goes with a Moana theme, with a bronze statue of Moana, Pua and Heihei.
So the outside of the ship is mostly settled. Wednesday is about the inside, and where it’s going.
If you’ve got a guess for the homeport, you’ve got about two days to be smug about it.
