Animal Kingdom’s Sad Petting Zoo Could Close for Bluey?

File this one under rumor, but it’s something I knew was on the chopping block for a long time. According to WDWNT the petting zoo (Affection Section) at Rafiki’s Planet Watch could close to be replaced with Bluey.

My husband actually calls the Affection Section “The World’s Saddest Petting Zoo”.

Long-rumored closure

The Affection Section and Rafiki’s Planet Watch have been the focus of closure rumors for years. Previously, the replacements were said to be “Zootopia” and “The Lion King,” but now it seems Bluey is the latest possibility.

Honestly, I’m sure an IP is going to take over the area at some point. Like Thanos, it is “inevitable.”

WDWNT correctly pointed out that last year, it was announced that Bluey and Bingo would be coming to the Conservation Station area this summer, along with animals from Australia.

“Beginning in Summer 2026 at Walt Disney World Resort, you’ll be able to take a fun excursion to Conservation Station in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, where you can play and dance with Bluey and Bingo!” There will also be a Bluey and Bingo meet and greet and the opportunity to see animals from Bluey’s home country, Australia.

It would make sense to remove the petting zoo to make room for the new offering.

Of course, nothing has been confirmed, and it might mean nothing, just like rumors of other IP taking over the area

I do think it’s an interesting theory. We know that Bluey is already coming to this part of the park.
