Marvel agatha all along

‘Agatha All Along’ Upset. It Did Not Debut As High As ‘The Acolyte’ on Disney+

Disney has a problem. Their big Marvel show, ‘Agatha All Along’, did not even debut as high as their Star Wars show, ‘The Acolyte’, on Disney+. ‘The Acolyte’s’ viewership was disappointing, and it was one of the lowest-watched ‘Star Wars ‘shows on the platform. Now, ‘Agatha All Along’s’ debut came in lower.

But this is all based on what Disney says by their “internal data.” A “view,” according to Disney, is “total stream time divided by runtime.”  This isn’t the actual number of people who watched; it’s an estimate based on this formula.

‘Agatha All Along’ is not the worst show, but it isn’t the best Marvel show either.

I have yet to watch the third episode, but the first two episodes were okay. I do think they skew more toward the female demographic than the male demographic, though. If you liked ‘WandaVision’ you will like ‘Agatha All Along.’

‘Agatha All Along’ vs ‘The Acolytle’

‘Agatha All Along’ had about 9.3 million views globally in its first seven days. Meanwhile, ‘The Acolyte’ had 11.1 million views in its first five days of release. This is with Disney allowing the first episode to be viewed on Roku as well.

‘Ahsoka’ outperformed “Agatha All Along” with over 14 million views in its first five days.

‘Agatha All Along’ didn’t even make the top 10 show list in the US according to Samba TV.

It could be that Marvel has less demand than Star Wars, which is not good.

Que ‘The Acolyte’ Fans.

These results will likely set off ‘The Acolyte’ fans who have been petitioning for a second season of the show after Disney reportedly canceled it. They have resorted to petitions but the signature numbers aren’t that high.

‘The Acolyte’ also cost well over $200 million to produce. While we do not yet know the final budget for “Agatha All Along,” estimates place it at less than half the cost of ‘The Acolyte’, somewhere around $100 million. Again, that is estimated. However, they almost always end up more expensive when the numbers are released.

So, while the viewership was not the best, it wasn’t too bad. Debuts usually do well; it’s the viewership trends for episodes 3-8 that will be the most telling. That’s what makes or breaks these shows.

Time will tell how it actually performs.
