FIRST LOOK: Zootopia is opening on December 20, 2023, at Shanghai Disney Resort!

Zootopia at Shanghai Disney Looks Amazing!

Disney Parks’ X account just posted some beautiful footage of the Zootopia area of the Shanghai Disney Resort! Check it out below!

In the short 42-second clip, we see the new themed land. While it’s not a massive area of the park, the forced-perspective cityscape does make it seem much more significant. It’s even more impressive at night when the skyline is lit up.

Various locations for the Walt Disney Studios animated 2016 film look primarily facades, but including animatronics and screen projections bring the whole land to life.

Some of the animatronics we see in the video include Chief Bogo, Clawhauser, Judy Hopps, Nick Wilde, a polar bear, and some hamsters in their balls traversing the city’s tube system.

The Zootopia in Shanghai appears to be set after the movie’s events, where Nick and Judy are part of the ZPD.

Some of the attractions are shown off, too, but very briefly. We spot Nick and Judy in a ZPD car and a short action scene involving the two on a projection screen.

Of course, what would Zootopia be without giant advertisements for Gazelle? She appears several times in the background, including being part of a massive multi-story tall digital display.

Zootopia will open at the Shanghai Disney Resort on December 20, 2023. If you plan to be on the other side of the globe at the end of the year, click here to purchase your tickets.

I’m jealous. While I’m not a fan of the film, I think the US Disney parks need more immersive theming like this.

We’ve got plenty of room in Orlando to expand upon the Shanghai Disney Resort’s version. Imagineering could probably create a sprawling recreation of Zootopia. That is … if Iger is willing to spend the money.

What did you think of the Zootopia reveal? Let us know below.
