“Zootopia 2” is dominating the box office, especially in China. None of this is really surprising, but what is surprising is the speed at which this film is heading towards $1 billion. It was only released on November 23, and it’s already hit $915.8 million worldwide, with over $693 million of it coming from the international market.
According to Deadline, “Zootopia 2” has hit some big milestones. It has become the third-largest Hollywood global release of 2025, and the top Hollywood film release for 2025 internationally. Now the film is the second-largest Hollywood studio movie ever in China, after “Avengers: Endgame.”
Not only is the box office doing well, but the audience scores for this film are also fantastic.
Rotten Tomatoes lists an audience score of 96% and a critical score of 92%. Audiences and critics are united in love for this film.

Deservedly so. It really is a good movie. I personally think it’s better than the first one (my daughter disagrees, but still loves this film.)
At this point, it will likely cross the $1 billion mark in the next few days and continue to climb until Disney’s “Avatar: Fire and Ash” releases on December 19.
Disney will likely end the year strong as both of these IPs are very popular in China.
Credit where credit is due, two weeks in theaters and hitting $1 billion for an animated movie is incredible.
