Fans of X-Men ’97 and Deadpool & Wolverine will have a chance to take a look behind the scenes with two new books that explore the art of the Marvel franchises.
X-Men ’97: The Art and Making of the Animated Series won’t come out until April 29, 2025, but it may be worth the wait. It will be interesting to see if the book shows various evolutions of character redesigns, such as Magneto’s, Storm’s, and Rogue’s mysterious missing butt.
Is it possible that the book has been delayed so long due to the current drama involving the show’s creator, Beau DeMayo? Allegedly, the second season of X-Men ’97 has undergone many rewrites to remove DeMayo completely from the series.

“Storyboards, character sketches, vehicle designs, new costumes, stills, animatic frames, cels, and so much more will show every step of the process that the talented team of animators, designers, and storytellers undertook to bring viewers the further adventures of Wolverine, Storm, Bishop, the Beast, Jubilee, Cyclops, and the rest of Marvel’s most famous mutants.“
Now, something far more interesting is what went into creating Deadpool & Wolverine. We saw multiple incarnations of both Wade Wilson and Logan. This art book will hopefully show us each version of the two and how many revisions the art department had to go through until they got to the final product.
Thankfully, this book will be out on October 29, but it is priced at $90!

“Marvel Studios presents the first book in a newly revamped line of deluxe ART OF tie-in books—celebrating the highly anticipated release of DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE! This volume is filled with all the features you’d expect, including a stunning gallery of never-before-seen artwork and in-depth interviews with the creative team. But now, the ART OF series is better than ever, packaged in a beautiful slipcase with five exclusive lithographs starring the Merc with a Mouth and The Best There Is!“
In less exciting news, The Art of Marvel Studios What If…? is set to release on August 27. Personally, I wasn’t a big fan of the art style of this MCU alternate universe series, but if you were, then pre-order it now at a discount!

“Through interviews with the animators, designers, producers, and writers of the series, readers will discover everything that goes into translating their favorite heroes and villains from live action to animation and how exciting new possibilities for storytelling can open up if you only ask, ‘What if…?’“
