A recent Orange County Sheriff’s report documented over $2,000 in theft of Disney pins or merchandise after a mom aided and abetted her juvenile daughter.
According to WDWNT, Ivette Perez, aged 52, was arrested on April 12, 2026, after her daughter was caught trying to steal pins from Disney Pin Traders at Disney Springs.
A Cast Member witnessed the girl putting about 15 pins into her bag, but another Cast Member thought the total to be closer to 40 pins. While the girl was doing this, her mother was asking for a “clear plastic bag,” which they thought could be a distraction to the theft.
When the girl left the store without paying for the pins, she was detained by authorities.
Over $2,000 of merchandise was stolen.
Upon inspection, the duo had $2,030 worth of stolen merchandise between them.
The police report indicated that Perez was interviewed by a deputy. During the conversation, Perez acknowledged her daughter was stealing and admitted to knowing about it. She allowed it because she didn’t have enough money to pay for the items. She also reportedly showed the officer text messages between her and her daughter with Perez telling the daughter to hurry and get to the car so they wouldn’t get caught with the stolen items.
Perez was also caught with stolen items. Between the texts and her own theft in front of the child, the officers felt she was aiding and abetting in the theft.
I really don’t understand how the child thought she was getting away with taking so many pins without being noticed.
Perez was arrested and charged
This all led to Ivette Perez being arrested and charged with third-degree grand theft and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
After all that, she pled not guilty at her court appearance.
Mom of the year right there.
Sure, Disney merchandise is overpriced and expensive. The items would probably cost half that anywhere else, but that isn’t a reason to steal. When you take that much you are bound to get caught. There are plainclothes officers all over the parks and Disney Springs, in addition to security and Cast Members.
Just don’t do it.
