Ah, Florida. I love this state. We cannot go a day without some high strangeness. Things like Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey being shown in school to a group of 4th graders.
According to Business Inside, a teacher at the Academy for Innovative Education in Miami allowed a student to watch the 2023 violent reimagining of the loveable stuffed bear.
The film was suggested by students for a movie day in their math class. Not all kids were on board; some actively complained that they did not want to see the 2023 slasher movie.
One parent was rightfully upset that the teacher allowed the screening and did nothing to stop it, even after other students complained. Since the school falls outside of the Miami public school system’s authority, I’m not sure who would really investigate this.
Trust me; this isn’t some PG-13 movie that cuts away before the blood and guts. Nope, this thing has some decent kills and gory effects. Perfect for minors to watch…
School officials, including the principal, allegedly ignored complaints from a parent. However, the Head of the Academy for Innovative Education said the issue was addressed with the teacher, “We are actively monitoring the students, and our mental health counselor and principal have already met with those students who have expressed concerns”
The teacher responsible for allowing the movie to be shown was not named in the BI piece or the original story from CBS News. I contacted the Academy for Innovative Education for more information but await an immediate answer.
It was recently announced that the ill-received Pooh slasher was going to get a sequel. That one should be screened for 5th graders instead.
