Though it happens later than other holiday gingerbread displays at Walt Disney World, we love the Disney holiday gingerbread decorations at Animal Kingdom Lodge. This made its 2023 appearance on November 22, 2023.

As previously announced by Walt Disney World, Ginger and Debra have returned to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge for the 2023 holiday season. Ginger, the gingerbread giraffe, and Debra, the zebra, appeared in the lobby of the Jambo House section of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.
In addition to the well-crafted animal, the massive Christmas tree returned to the lobby at Jambo House. We love these festive decorations at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. Even though we are in the minority, this display makes us smile the most of all among all the holiday décor at Walt Disney World.
Disney Holiday Gingerbread Decorations at Animal Kingdom Lodge

The two animals, Ginger, and Debra were created by the bakery team led by Pastry Chef Lexy Ross. They will be on display through the end of the year. This marks the third year for Ginger. Debra returns for the second year at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.

According to the signage near the display, the sculpting ingredients include 34 pounds of honey, 27 pounds of flour, 1.5 pounds of gingerbread spices, and 55 pounds of white modeling chocolate. This was topped off with 12 pounds of dark modeling chocolate.
In addition to the gingerbread displays, a gigantic tree greets guests as they enter the Jambo House lobby. Before that, the usual garland and other decorations make it clear to all guests that the holidays have begun at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Of course, we always like a display with a cookie too! The cookie can be found at The Mara, the quick service at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.

The Christmas tree shows off the decorating skills of the Walt Disney World team. The tree features yellow lights. The ornaments range from wooden sculptures and bows to reed ornaments.
Though the displays may be more understated than the big ones at places like the Grand Floridian, the cuteness of Ginger and Debra fit very well at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. The combination of the usual Animal Kingdom Lodge décor, the animals, and the gorgeous tree almost make our hearts grow three sizes larger.
If you visit Walt Disney World, let us know your thoughts on this display. We hope you have a wonderful holiday season.
