The Walt Disney World Railroad at Magic Kingdom Park will remain closed until at least January 2022 according to a refurbishment schedule via Blogmickey.com.
This means that for over 1000 days Magic Kingdom guests have not been able to utilize this mode of transportation around the park. This closure is due to the construction of the Tron Lightcycle Attraction that has taken up real estate in Tomorrowland. Allegedly, Disney wanted the Tron attraction to open for the 50th Anniversary on October 1, 2021, but this date was obviously missed. No opening date for Tron has been offered by Disney as of the writing of this article.
It only makes sense to assume that this setback in opening dates for the Walt Disney Road Railroad coincides with a need for more time to work on the Tron Attraction.
