Walt Disney Animatronic To Be Added To Carousel of Progress at Walt Disney World

Disneyland has an animatronic of Walt Disney, and now Walt Disney World will also get one too.  Today, at Destination D23, Disney announced that the Carousel of Progress in the Magic Kingdom will be receiving a Walt Disney animatronic.

Earlier this summer, Disneyland got a Walt Disney animatronic that was almost Walt, but still pretty off.

Where will the animatronic go?

Walt Disney will be added to the beginning of the attraction, where you usually stare at the Carousel of Progress logo and listen to a voice-over.

The concept art appears to be Walt’s spiel on the attraction back when it was going to the World’s Fair in 1964. I’m wondering if they will repurpose his dialogue from that TV special.

Kristen Komoroske, Executive Director of the Walt Disney Family Museum, said,

“We are grateful to The Walt Disney Company and Walt Disney Imagineering for their continued collaboration and ongoing partnership with The Walt Disney Family Museum. The introduction of a new Audio-Animatronics figure of Walt Disney in Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress marks an exciting milestone in our shared mission to celebrate the story of the man behind the magic and inspire new generations with his innovations and vision for the future. We appreciate the continued efforts and meticulous care that Imagineering has taken to keep Walt’s legacy alive.”

We do not yet have a date for the closure of the Carousel of Progress, nor a date for when it will reopen with Walt Disney included.

Honestly, if you were going to put a Walt Disney animatronic in any attraction, the Carousel of Progress makes the most sense.  Walt was very excited about it. Hopefully, this animatronic Walt Disney looks better than Disneyland’s version.

What do you think? Comment and let know.
