Voices of Liberty Get New Costumes And They Are A Bit Better Than What They’ve Been Wearing.

Disney has just posted images of the new costumes they are giving the Voices of Liberty just in time for the EPCOT Festival of the Arts and frankly they kind of suck but they are way better than the business casual outfits they’ve been wearing.

I get what they are going for, but I’m not sold.

The Voices of Liberty had worn period costumes for years, it was part of the charm. Then they started wearing these awful “business casual” type outfits. Now they are making pants suits made to mimic the lines of the period costumes, or something stupid like that. I think the exact wording was “a streamlined, architectural energy.”

That being said, these are better than what’s been happening with their costumes lately.

These costumes are not for a limited time. Disney made sure to clarify that these will be worn year-round,

This new look for the beloved a cappella group will be featured year-round–except during the holidays, of course–and the costumes are the product of talent, time and careful design.

I’m sure people worked hard on these. I can see them used for stage shows or events outside the American Adventure Pavilion and Rotunda, but these ensembles in place of the period costumes? No.

Again, it’s still better than the terrible recent outfits. They must have had a lot of complaints and tried to compromise.

Now, at least, they have elements of the period in them.

Social Media has some thoughts as well:

We only get period costumes at Christmastime now. I guess it’s better than costumes with Disney IP all over them.
