Upcoming ‘Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance’ Attraction Will Not Operate During Extra Magic Hours

This is something to consider when you are planning your trip to visit Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.  The new Rise of the Resistance attraction will be opening on December 5th and will not operate during Extra Magic Hours.

Here’s the Official Statement from Disney:

“Opening December 5, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, the newest attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, will be one of the most ambitious, advanced and immersive experiences ever undertaken by Walt Disney Imagineering.

When the attraction opens, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will be available during normal park operating hours. While the attraction will not be open to Guests during Extra Magic Hours, the remainder of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, including Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, will continue to be available.”

I do not think this is a very good move as it’s going to create much longer lines. Extra Magic Hours is a perk that guests staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel can enter the parks early or stay late, thus limiting crowds. This is going to create much longer lines. I have to wonder is this so they can say “Wow! Look at the wait times for Rise of the Resistance!”

Of course I know the lines would be long either way, but it’s still interesting. I still love “the remainder of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, including Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, will continue to be available.” So good news one ride and the rest of the shopping mall will be open early.
