In typical fashion, Universal Orlando food and beverage created numerous Mardi Gras themed sugar-filled treats. This year, they brought us the Mardi Gras Marshmallow Pie. For frame of reference, you should imagine a “Moon Pie” if you are familiar with such treats. This Mardi Gras treat costs $5.49 before discounts. The menu description reads “fresh made marshmallow, graham cracker cookies, chocolate, (and) Mardi Gras sprinkles.” Guests will find these sold at the New Orleans themed Mardi Gras food tents and some bakery cases across property, like at Today Café.

Following pattern of this year, the appearance of the sweet food items rates as excellent. The chocolate coating over this “pie” looks great. The sprinkles serve as a nice touch. Of course, I fall for any dessert with sprinkles.

Everything does not reach perfection with this treat. Due to the dark chocolate coating around graham cracker cookie, this item exceeds standard ability to cut easily. Still, you could break it apart by hand far easier. If you elect not to share this with others, then prepare for some graham cracker crumbs to fly out as you bite into it. The chocolate coating matches well with the graham cracker cookies making a serious blockade to start your dining experience.

However, the flavor of the chocolate and graham cracker cookies are worth the effort. Once you initiate consuming this, the inside feels remarkably soft. The specially made marshmallow cream inside works very well. For record, I did not like the marshmallow inside of this. Yet, I am in a tiny minority based on checking with other guests. The smores like flavor creates a pleasant taste. If you want to avoid overly sugar filled items, then skip this one. At $5.49, this makes a very cost-effective food choice if your dentist approves (or never finds out).

One last word of advice, I suggest you buy this at one of the bakery cases. I only tried it at the food tent. Everyone who bought this from a bakery case in a year-round food outlet, especially from Today Café, loved it! Generally, temperature control functions better in those places so that makes sense. May all your dining be out of this world. As always, eat like you mean it!
